Through are whole building process it was a total nightmare. We were constantly told whatever we asked about that it was our problem. We are now after our 1 year warranty and they still refuse to fix things. We closed in November of 2021 and have been asking for drywall crackes to be fixed. Electrical problems and a door that leaks to be fixed since October of 2022. There were things that were never completed that we had to do on our own. Now that the ground has settled we are finding lots of rock and building materials in our yard including wood with nails. I have 2 young children that can not even play in our own yard. We are having to have the whole yard redone by a professional and the back yard that we paid extra for, we asked for it to be cleared out but we were told that they can not take out living trees. Do not use this builder all they do is lie and I'm pretty sure our Forman was not a licensed professional. The list goes on and on we will never use this builder again.Review from Robert B

My fiance and I recently built and closed on a home with Commonwealth Designs and couldn't be happier with our experience. The agent we worked with on our paint/tile/flooring selections was very helpful, we experienced no major delays, and the process went about as smooth as you could hope for with new construction. Of course there were some small cosmetic items that needed to be touched up after our final walkthrough, but they were quick to address them. Highly recommended!Review from Megan M

So many things wrong with this company. Save yourself the headache and use another builder and warranty company. During building the home, a couple of walls were put up in the wrong locations. I was charged for their mistakes instead of them fixing it on their own, which was not right. Also, Tom T**** is useless and won’t fix anything under warranty even though that’s exactly his job. The actual project of building my house wasn’t completed before I paid for the house when I was out of town, my mistake. They told me they would finish everything, but after I signed the check, no one ever came back to complete the work. The list of issues with building and warranty work goes on.

We are very sorry you have this perspective of Commonwealth Designs. But at the same time, we are perplexed about the items listed in your review. You mention walls put up in the wrong location and you were charged for our mistake. All the walls put up were constructed exactly from the building plans that you signed personally. As with any post (this was a framing change) changes made after the agreed upon construction begins all professional builders require a signed “change order” which the builder charges for his subcontractor charge. You signed the change order. You state the house has not been completed after you paid for it. Before the actual closing of your house as with all customers, we had a “first walk” and “final walk” inspection of the house with you. During the final we noted a few minor items listed on your back-order form. Both parties agreed to and signed off on 8 items which have all been completed, all but 2 within two weeks. The back ordered soft close hinges arrived within a month. We are sorry you felt a desire to make incorrect statements in your review. However, we have personally been told by the other occupant of your home that they are very happy with the house. Our goal is hopefully you will be pleased with your new home. Please remember to send in your one-year warranty request near the end of this year. - Commonwealth Designs
