I had a Biote appt $90 cash up front. I saw the nurse practitioner she suggested we convert to a new patient appt and bill my insurance. They would deduct my copay from the $90 credit the difference. After the appointment I needed to pay $130 for the labs. I explained that I wanted to pay the difference of my $90 credit credit and $130 for labs. They said they don’t know what my copay is. So I called my insurance company (which they should have done) and waited 30 minutes to verify that I do not have a copay. The insurance rep spoke with the insurance provider and confirmed that I do not pay a copay for any visits. I stated I wanted to pay the difference of my $90 credit and $130 labs but they refused to credit my $90 saying once they bill insurance I may owe a balance so they are going to keep my money just in case. I asked to speak with someone else bc as a new patient, I did not have to pay them $90. The process when billing the insurance is to only collect the copay, if one is required which with my insurance it is not! The insurance lady goes to the back and loudly discusses my situation with the entire office. She comes back with 2 other ladies with her and throws her hands up and tell them to deal with it because she can’t. They say they are going to change it back to a Biote appt and keep the $90. I told them that was not ok. Then the irritated insurance lady tries to interject from the other side of the room and I told her to just stay out of it because she couldn’t deal with it before and she doesn’t need to now. She is obviously angrily and I and if I have multiple people coming at me I’m gonna get upset too and that’s not gonna be good for either one of us. So to keep a situation from becoming more hostile it would be better if she stayed out of it. So I just wasted 3 hours and $90 with no resolution for the concerns I originally schedule an appointment for. With all the confusion and hostility I’m not comfortable coming back to this office to be seen.
