We have been using TLC since 2015. They are not great but ok. Every year I had some issues with them like wrong invoicing or they provided a service which I didnt order and they **** me for it. I had to spend time over the phone with them then they resolved it. Last two years I wasnt able to watch their invoices as due to my health issues I was hospitalized for majority of the time and my husband paid without paying any attention. I had signed up for their very basic service which cost about$100 now all of sudden I am seeing these invoices for$300 for the service I never ordered and because my husband paid that last year without paying any attention , they are claiming that contract is Auto renewed and I am liable to pay them $313. They keep sending me the invoice again and again even after calling them several times and canceling the contract. They are stealing and ripping people. My lawn looks worst and their charges are tripled. WORST COMPANY TO WORK WITH. THEIR STAFF IS RUDE ABD NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. Nobody should work with them.Business response

I am being charged $75.90 for an application on my yard that I did NOT approve. The *** company is saying that a Grub application was checked off on an invoice to me with a regular weed control application. I..... did NOT authorize nor check off any box for grub control. They are showing me as late with this payment. I am not pleased with their unethical business practice on this matter. I see other complaints on your site with their customers being "secretly" charged for an unauthorized service too. I am not paying this charge of $75.90 because I did NOT authorize it.My account number with them is ********* contact number is *************.I need this resolved quickly before they hit me with a second ******* letter.Business response

I paid for a service that I did not want or ask for. Back on March 17,2022 I received a flyer from TLC about lawn service. So I wrote a check for $216.66. For this service, so on 04-08-2022 I call spoke to a *** advise me there was no check or information on me. So I call my bank stop payment and I also told *** I did not want their service. It cost $31.75 to cancel the check. After all this they came and did a lawn service and they want $45.11. I wrote letters and called and they want their money. I have the dates of all calls and letters that were sent, and I never heard back from this *** So I want $31.75 and $45.11 that is owe to me. This is a quick draft.Business response

I paid for a full year's, 2021, service. I paid for the service by check. I came home in spring 2022 to find that TLC had applied a spring treatment to my lawn. I didn't renew the service for 2022 nor was I notified that the service was being done nor that I should contact the company to cancel the renewal. I pre-paid by check for 2021 service and didn't authorize to be billed for 2022. I was not satisfied with the service in 2021 and had to request that a weed treatment be repeated. The repeat treatment did not work. Within a day or two of this 2022 treatment I emailed the company and asked for the service to canceled because I did not want it renewed. I was informed that it is the customer's responsibility to notify the ********************** every year to cancel this service or it will auto renew. This is a deceptive practice. What if a homeowner moved, would the new homeowner get a service they didn't request nor want? I received a **** for the 2022 spring treatment. I sent the company an email explaining my dissatisfaction with the service in 2021. I thought that would be end of the matter. Instead I received another **** for the spring service and threat of a collection agency for $53.70. Reading the other the BBB complaints it is obvious that other customers had fallen victim to the renewal practice.Business response

I prepaid for **** services for the 2021 season to;TLC: The Lawn Company **************************************** Business Registration B2769/HPC578 ************ *********** was below standard. We sent a cancelation of services letter to the above address, because we were told that we could not cancel services over the phone and that the service would automatically renewed. 2022, They applied the first application while we were not home and left us a ****. Upon contacting them they insisted that we pay for the application of the service.They claim they never received our letter of cancellation. We attempted to work out a solution with them and they failed to uphold their end.The **** has gone from $68, to $83, soon to be $108, with threats to send it to collections. Upon contacting them they refuse to accept our word that we sent a letter of cancellation. They continue to threaten use with collections. The way they conduct business is extremely unethical. They need to change their business model. If you give good service people will come back to your company. You should not be stealing from people under the pretense of auto renewal. How many other people have just paid the money to keep from going to collections?Business response

I paid for the 2021 service, in full, in advance. I did this because I dont auto enroll in ANYTHING, in 2022 I received a **** saying they serviced. I paid it but obviously shouldnt have. Then I got a 2nd one- I pd that and put a sticky note in to cancel this service. Now they came a 3rd time and I called them to cancel a service I never signed up for and I told that girl I was cancelling and not paying it and she said no problem. Now I have a ****. I did not sign up for this and this **** is 2x the cost it normally is. If I wanted this service I would have called in and signed up for it. Additionally the service is terrible! Weeds all over my yard! I am not paying this!Business response

I purchased services from TLC The Lawn Company in 2021. I did not wish to have their services after 2021, so made no effort to make a similar purchase in 2022. TLC sent a **** in 2022 for services they claim to have delivered in the spring. I informed them that I had made no effort to obtain their services for 2022 - they responded that services auto-renew. Nowhere on their website is this information made known to potential customers, nor was it stated on my 2021 purchase receipt or the 2021 confirming email. In the confirming email, TLC provided a link which one could click on to obtain more information about the services. Nowhere on the subsequent webpage is it listed that services auto-renew the next year.Business response

Renewal letters were sent out in the beginning of the year prior to service start, accounts are auto renewed for the coming season. If the customer wanted to discontinued service for the up coming season, they are asked to notify us by phone or in writing to discontinue services.

I prepaid for a select amount of services; in which I do not believe I received all of; and the company will not send me an itemized billed. In addition the company claims to have given me more services then I paid for and a collection amount to the a collection company. I am removed by the fact that the company continued to service my lawn beyond what I paid for - which is their stance; and would charge me as if I signed what for a subscription based program; when in fact I prepaid for everything I wanted.Business response

Provided statement for the 2021 Season which was prepaid for. Also provided statement for the current 2022 season. Renewal letters were sent out in the beginning of the year prior to service start, accounts are auto renewed for the coming season. A telemarketer called in the beginning of spring. I asked them for a quote for services. Nobody ever gave me a quote for any services and all the sudden one of their work vans was in my driveway. I told them I never authorized this and I did not want their services. Now all of the sudden I am getting a “collection notice”…when I spoke to them on the phone they said they would take care of this and they apologized. Now I am getting bills again. This is not the way business is done!Business response

Customer number ****** TLC the lawn company shewsbury MD 800 286 8505 Had originally requested their service and within 24 hours called and explained that I no longer needed their service they performed the service weeks later I called and spoke with a woman and explained the service had been canceled and she said they made a mistake and it would be taken care of they proceeded to charge me for the service…I had another company Heritage Lawn Care perform the same service a week earlier. TLC company has billed me several times and then they’ll increase the bill and submitted it to Transworld systems Inc. collection agency I have always paid my bills on time this will affect my credit rating and my purchasing power therefore a counter suit is necessary they are only trying to get more money for a service that was never needed and was canceled before it was performedBusiness response
