I went to the emergency room at Milford Regional Medical Center in 05/13/2024, I have MassHealth so I share my information in the emergency but I received an unexpected bill from Orion Emergency Services. I don't understand why they charged me or why no one informed me that I could be charged and that I could receive a bill for $913.00.I don't have the money to pay this bill and now I've received a new letter saying that my bill is now $1,500.00. I tried calling before to understand why nobody told me that I could be charged but couldn't get through to anyone by phone.I want to know why nobody told me before during any exam that I could be charged and why MassHealth does not cover? Thank you,***********************.

    To Whom It May Concern:

Mr. Dos S***** was seen in our Emergency Department on 5/13/24 and then again on 6/4/24.  Our billing company submitted a claim for each date of service, and both of the claims were denied as the services were not covered under the patients current benefit plan.  The invoices were sent to the patient.  We reached out to Mr.  Dos S***** and explained the insurance limitations which is why he received these invoices.  Mr.  Dos S***** explained his financial hardship and we worked with him to establish a reduced payment for each visit due to his financial hardship.  He was pleased with the outcome and the issue was resolved.

    Sincerely,

I paid Orion Emergency Services per attached balance shown on 2/10/2023 then received this additional bill for $137.01. I was told by insurance company that the provider did not accept contacted rate. I filed a grievance, then received a new letter attached from insurance dated July 26 2023 that the grievance was cancelled with a new appeal. In the interim, with no final notice or phone call, the balance due was reported to ************************., which I have disputed pending resolution. Orion should not have reported with no notification with matter still pending with insurance.
