Towards the end of my rental agreement at SilverBrick Lofts, I was not treated fairly as a tenant. I was charged my full security deposit and asked to pay an additional fee, although I gave a month's notice that I planned to move out and did not renew my lease. SilverBrick Lofts could have told me that I would be charged my entire security deposit, I was penalized because I would not resign my lease essentially. The buildings are in poor condition at SilverBrick Lofts. There was a hole with mold in the stairwell near my unit. The back elevator is falling apart. I found urine there, so it is apparent that homeless people can get into the building. The hallways in Building A are dirty with staining on the carpet. There were mice in my apartment and fruit flies. i used my own trap to catch one of the mice because the unit was treated after there was already an infestation. The trash shoot was broken in Building A so trash was often left outside the trash room into the hallway this was most likely the cause for mice and fruit flies. Hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise was stolen from me because the mail room was not a safe place for deliveries. The other tenants and I were blamed for the theft and told to contact our couriers to deliver to our doors rather than the mail room. In the past, packages were also stolen from outside my door. SilverBrick claimed to have cameras in the mail room but, no one was ever brought to justice for stealing and so this method did not solve the problem. The management office is also quite difficult to contact, as they rarely answer their phone or return phone calls. I resorted to text messages because it was the only way to get a response even in the case of emergencies. I regretted receiving mass text messages that reprimanded tenants for issues that the business should have handled themselves such as issues of theft and security. I request that my security deposit be returned for the issues that I mentioned above.
