I'd give negative 5 if I could. Many of *** associates are prejudiced against people who don't speak Spanish cape verdant creole and hatian creole. Many associates have real bad attitudes especially when asked for assistance in finding items. Some make insulting remarks in their language and even use cuss words in their language towards customers.

I had a truly unpleasant experience at the seafood counter in the ************************************ on 12/21/24. I approached the seafood counter and specifically requested two pieces of salmon, a request I have made many times in the past without issue. However, the employee working there repeatedly questioned how much I wanted, which I found confusing. When I explained again that I simply wanted two pieces, the employee became visibly frustrated. She proceeded to slam the salmon onto the scale in an aggressive and disrespectful manner. Her actions were not only unprofessional but also unpleasant to witness. It was clear that she was dealing with anger or frustration, and this had a significant impact on my overall experience. It's disappointing that someone with such a lack of professionalism and apparent anger issues is employed by Market Basket.

My family and I went to the Market Basket in *******,Ma location on 06/02/24 at 3pm. The cashier and bagger were very hostile. I had some items that needed stickers. I didnt even get a hello and how are you? The items were laundry baskets and the other two were cleaning supplies. The cashier started harassing me. She strongly repeated stickers are a rule. I said thats fine. I am familiar with the sticker concept, since I shop at Market Basket often. After the cashier started in me then the bagger started harassing me too. Just because there are strict rules about the sticker purchase policy, it does not excuse workers to act hostile to customers. I reported this to the front end manager and he didnt seem like it was a big concern. I asked him he understood my concerns and I told him I didnt like the treatment I received by them. He did end up talking to them. I want the managers to speak to all workers about great customer service because this is not the first time I shopped here and workers were hostile.

******************************** Sun, Apr 28 at 11:04 AM Dear Market Basket,On or about Thursday, 4/25/24, at Market Basket in ******,yet another unqualified cash register person. The woman at the first cash register in the store, for a short order (items or less) did not speak English. She wanted $17.00 extra after already being paid. She pointed at the fictional number/charge she created and held up the line. I could not communicate with her.She was determined to steal my money. And held up the growing line.I called an employee over, followed by an assistant manager. She apologized, sorted my bill out, and we worked out a second transaction at the empty cash register.Market Basket hiring someone who does not speak English to handle money is ridiculous. Put them on stocking shelves or janitorial duties, but to have someone take money from the elderly (I will be 70 next week) and insist on taking that money from me was detestable. See my letter to the Reading MA store manager of January, 2023. Market Basket It shows a pattern.Respectfully,***********************

I worked here as a cashier for several months. I was taken off the schedule for carding someone who was 35 years old. The customer complained and I was yelled at by both the assistant manager and the store manager. When I explained that its the law to card, and that I too am 35 and get carded everywhere I go, the store manager told me 35 is not that young they hire young teens and its a little creepy being told Im old by someone twice my age. I was also warned by other employees about misogyny, racism, bullying, discrimination and other issues going on in the store. I was unjustly fired and told I was controversial. Store manager tried to shun me from the store. Employees trashed me all over ******** on their people of market basket page spreading rumors and slander. I was discriminated against for being in recovery from substance abuse. A current employee brought this to my attention and also said I was cruel to special needs people. The slander has to stop. I was told by several employees drinks are being drugged with acid at register 14. They use the people of market basket ******** page to make fun of ex employees and customers. I feel unsafe shopping there now.

Shop there for 30 years, lately but not uncommon, I am followed throughout the store with a greeter in Produce, the last part of the shopping, either monitors me or approaches and ask to help. Got worse when ****** was manager. Mentioned to ************ and others including f/e. No relief-is in this store and have not seen in ***, Portsmouth, and others. Unger, *******, ******, were the managers. Really an insult based on no reasons-a vendor tried to help me by asking. *** still there sees it, and ***** on f/e. Not sure the concern, was a vendor for them in past . If they have a concern I would like to know. Passive aggressive and prejudicial. Sadly the time spent with me someone else really is causing the shrink the seek to control. One day I asked the managers if I could shop there and one man in charge questioned why I asked. A favorite spot to watch is in Bakery-so I spoke to a meat clerk they used-"Sorry you have to watch me..." Her reply-"I never got up there, besides you"re a regular". She too left.
