Allied Well dug a new well for me on 26-Aug. A new well needs to pass inspection with the county. So, when the well is dug it is chlorinated. At that point, the house is without water (except for toilet flushing) for a minimum of 2 days. The well then needs to pass 2 inspections with the county which must be at least 24 hours apart. My well has never passed both inspections. After the 3rd chlorination and failure the county recommended that the well be forced chlorinated. Allied has refused and continue to perform variations of the same chlorinations always stating that they have had success with this technique. Yet the well will fail again. Each chlorination requires 24 hours of only toilet flushing and then 24 hours of running a hose outside. I am then unable to turn my filtration system on until the chlorine in the water falls below 2 PPM. The county only inspects on Tuesday, so once the chlorine has been run through the system the county will come out the next 2 Tuesdays and get a water sample. Once we get a failure we schedule another chlorination. The process takes several weeks. Another issue is that they only show up about 50% of the time that they say they are going to show up. They were actually supposed to be here twice last week and failed to show. There is no warning that they can not make it. I just end up calling them the next day. I have made it clear to them that the only process we can go through now is the forced chlorination but nobody there will contact me anymore. I have paid them over $19,000.

This is an ongoing matter and Allied has not removed itself from the problem.  With the high iron content in the groundwater, multiple chlorinations are often required in order to properly disinfect the well for potable use.  Allied cannot be held responsible for groundwater conditions.  All Allied can do is respond to the test results which it has consistently done.  Each and every chlorination Allied has performed, at no cost, has shown improvement. The number of positive vials has gone from 43 to 6 to 5 to 1.  While we understand the customers frustration with the length of time for the results, Allied cannot perform tests on its own ***** and also has to rely on the county for the sampling.

I don't like to write negatively about a company, but Allied's failure to take responsibility for their workmanship and to ensure proper, correctly installed systems is what prompts this action. After experiencing excessive, unacceptable amounts of sediment in the water and having two separate well companies analyze our water/well, it was determined that most likely the well/ gravel screen filter in the well wasn't quite properly installed. My wife and I have reached out to numerous managers and employees at Allied to help resolve this issue, the office workers as far as we can tell have been great in taking our calls and seeming to try and help yet the upper management has left us hanging for what has now been months. Ideally we would just like help from Allied to fix the well by blowing it out and seeing if that resolves the sediment problem that should not exist in the first place.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/14) */ The well was drilled in July of 2017. Allied's warranty for the well is 1 year from time of installation. If the well needs to be rehabbed to remove the sediment (which is a normal process during the life of a well), Allied will perform the work but it is a billable service call not covered under warranty. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/24) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) According to the professional opinion and expertise of two other local well companies, in addition to the information and knowledge gathered from Anne Arundel County, it is not considered "typical maintenance" to have to blow sediment off a well, especially only a few years after it has been drilled. We have been informed in the sediment is likely related to the sizing and placement of the screen filter in the well when it was installed. Regardless of a warranty, this would not have changed and corresponds to accuracy and decisions of workmanship. It sounds like there was an error in judgment. We already paid full price for the well to be installed correctly, with appropriate size and placement of materials, and do not feel it is an ethical business practice for Allied to charge us (or anyone) again for the job to be done how it should have been done the first time. Customers should be able to hire Allied with confidence knowing the job will be done right. We hope Allied will take this opportunity to stand behind their work and do the right thing. Business Response /* (1000, 24, 2022/06/24) */ As previously stated, Allied's warranty is one year parts and labor from time of installation. The assertion that the well was never correctly installed from the start is incorrect as the county has to pull samples to test for bacteria, chlorides, turbidity etc. If the well was incorrectly installed from the start, these tests would have failed, the well would not have been approved and Allied would have had to address it at that time. The county (an impartial actor in this scenario) did procure passing ******* and the well was approved. If the customer wishes to have the well blown, it will be a billable service call outside of our warranty period.
