So I met with Kacie ***** who was counseler on your ****** **** APP she advised me that she is working with another company called Turning Leaf Counseling, Consultation, and Coaching (01/02)2024)and told me that she will no longer be working with and I should sign up through there when I signed up David ****** (01/02/2024)the admin assistant asked for my insurance information and David ****** informed me that my insurance will cover the charges and they will also need my debit card .I was hesitant but he insisted that my debit card will not be charged and they need to have a card on file so three weeks go by and I never attended a session then boom I was billed (01/31/2024)$413.08,(01/26/2024) $150.00. And (02/01/2024)$15.00 (02/01/2023) $13.75 I was told by a “David ******” their administrative assistant that I would not be billed and my insurance would cover it yet there was still charges being made on my debit card. So I attempted to call them within their business hours left messages on multiple occasions but the funny thing is my counseler “KACIE” is responding to me but not my insurance carrier not the admin but my counseler is telling me that they called my insurance company and they said I need to ask for a single claim adjustment. So I called my insurance carrier and they informed me that they have not received a corresponds from that company and have NO IDEA about the company. When attempting to reach out to the company they would ignore all my calls and informed me that I would be refunded at this point. But never got refunded I got my bank involved and they canceled my card and also put their company under investigation .The police got involved of this scam and informed me not to correspond with the company or the counselor. And my insurance got involved to investigate because they have my insurance information. This patient has five claims she is responsible for financially.
We will attach the invoices as well as the emails sent to this patient and the documents she signed agreeing to pay for any copays or deductibles.
Our staff would never tell someone they won't have to pay for copays and deductibles and then take their credit card information.
No police, scam or other reports have crossed our desk but this patient has been discharged by her provider due to daily and excessive hyper focus on the above delusions.
We wish her all the best.

My fiancé and I decided to get counseling before getting married. We contacted Turning Leaf through email because they advertised having a sliding scale, we thought that we would have to pay some. They asked what insurance information we had, and they said that they took my fiancé insurance and that we wouldn't have to pay anything. Online they advertise sliding scale from $85 to $150. We assume they will go according to your income. But come to find out it was totally free for us. We were told that we had to upload our bank card just so we can schedule appointments, but we will not be charged. He also took all of the insurance information. We did our initial appointment, and everything was fine. Around the second appointment it was stated that something was wrong with our address and the insurance was not going through. We contacted our insurance immediately. They had our correct address but couldn't find them in their database. They were kind enough to send the information that they were trying to send to the insurance company. Come to find out it has a lot of errors. I emailed them back and told them that a lot of errors and what they needed to fix. I waited a week and still they did not contact me. I made contact with them several times and come to find out they charged every dime out of our account. Is a total $300 for a supposed to be free appointments. I was told that they would refund me as soon as they can fix the insurance errors. But soon after that they stopped contacting me and their number was disconnected. Then I started to email them then I was told to stop emailing them and they wanted no longer to be communicating with me.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/10/04) */ It appears this complaint is listed under James ** but it does not appear he wrote this. We have been getting a lot of calls, emails, and reviews from his fiancée' who seems to misunderstand his insurance policy and his medical information. This client James contacted our agency and was explained what every patient isAny sessions not covered by your insurance are your responsibility. As far as the address goes, this particular client has Blue Cross which we accept however they did not disclose this insurance was Medicaid in the state of Washington, DC. SO, when we spoke to them via phone, email or text, we attempted to explain their insurance was not going to cover the sessions they had. They were given the sliding scale by their therapist at that time. She charged them 300 for 600 worth of sessions. We even spoke to their insurance company, and they said they also had tried to tell James's fiancée repeatedly that they were responsible for the sessions and the fee we charged was fair for all the sessions they had. There is nothing else we can do for them, so we asked them to discontinue reaching out and now they continue to reach out through reviews on google and this site. Please advise them to contact the state of Washington DC Medicaid office and ask for a case manager who can help them understand how to use their insurance and that they cannot use providers in Maryland, or the insurance won't be covered. Thank youInitial Complaint

On 11/2020 I contacted Turning Leaf for individual Counseling Serv. Michelle Hammer was my therapist since. On 04/2021, Michelle mentioned she was going to start a Coaching Program to help patients reach personal goals. The program lasted 90-days, and costed $250 per month, total of $750 to complete it. (This was a new program that she had just come up with.) At the end of the 90-days, she had come up with a SECOND 90-day coaching program, that built on new topics. I accepted to take the SECOND 90-day Program. The price would be the same as the previous one ($250 p/month, for a total of $750). The 2nd 90-day Program did NOT help me at all. Again, at the end of the SECOND session, she said she had created a THIRD session of the program. I told her that I did NOT want to continue with the Coaching programs, but still wanted to see her as my therapist. I discontinued the Coaching Program on 11/2021. She remained my therapist; and again, at the end of 03/2022, she asked me to join the THIRD session of the coaching program. I said I was not interested, but she insisted. I agreed to sit in for one of the group sessions and see how that went. I sat down for the first/only session held May/04/2022. After the session I immediately contacted her and said I was NOT interested and NO longer wanted to do the coaching with her. That day, I checked my credit card and I had already been billed twice the amount of $250 without my consent, for a total of $500. I asked for a refund, and they said they couldn't, and that I was obligated to complete the program. They said they would bill my credit card again for a total of $250! I have not signed any agreement stating these terms! The office mentioned that even if there is no signed contract, I'm still obligated to complete it and pay it. I received no service for the last two months that were been billed to my credit card, and would like to get refunded. Attached: Signed contract for 1st 90-day program (only one I have ever signed).Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/13) */ To whom it may concern, Unfortunately, this customer is changing the facts of her situation to get a refund for services already retained. We have the recordings of the sessions she attended in our coaching program as well as the receipts to other third party vendors for expenses incurred on her behalf to attend our program in April and May as well as staffing costs incurred. Furthermore, this customer was already disputed this charge by her bank and given an immediate refund and her bank is investigating. We are not sure what more she wants at this point but we can not refund her monies for services she already obtained and attended Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2022/05/18) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I do not accept the response of the merchant. They are telling lies to keep the money that I never allowed for them to withdraw from my credit card account. It surprises me a lot that they are doing this (being that they are a Christian company), going to the extent of creating false documents to sustain their argument, and further providing irrelevant documents to this case. The FIRST document provided: "Turning Leaf Credit Card Authorization Form", is IRRELEVANT TO THIS CASE, since this is the Credit Card Authorization form that I signed back in 11/2020 for the COUNSELING Sessions (covered 100% by my health insurance). The charges made to my Credit Card were in relation to Personal Coaching Sessions (covered under a separate agreement signed on 04/2021. The Personal Coaching Agreement that I signed, only stated that I had to complete a 90-day program (not a 1-year program) and did not include a clause that allowed them to charge my credit card without my consent. The SECOND document provided: "Tavolo di Chef EVENT REGISTRATION" is false and fabricated by the Merchant for the purpose of justifying the credit card charges to my bank account. This is simply a Word document that was created by Michelle Hammer on 5/13/22 (same day they provided their response), and on the ATTACHMENT #1, you can see a screenshot of the documents' information. The document is in relation to a cooking class that I was offered by the Merchant in which they stated that it was free and even open to people that were not attending the Coaching Sessions. I attended the cooking class with my 4-yr old daughter because I had nobody to watch over her and at no point was I told that I had to pay a single penny for this (even less that I would be charged for a 4-yr old child to attend a cooking class). The THIRD document provided: "INNER CIRCLE GROUP COACHING AGREEMENT" is a modification of the original contract that I signed with them on 04/18/2021. ATTACHEMNT #2 (previously provided) is the only contract that I ever signed for the Personal Coaching Program. This Third document is a modified version of the original contract, and includes clauses that I was never aware of and that the Merchant has created (again, for the purpose of retaining the money). See ATTACHMENT #3, were it shows that the Word document was modified by Michelle Hammer on 05/10/2022, well after I had started my complaint with them. The FOURTH document provided: is a SCREENSHOT of some sort of Software that they might use. The document also provides false information, since it states that I am a member since 09/02/2021, which is not true. Therefore, the document is irrelevant and does not contribute anything to this case. It is also impossible to have incurred on staffing costs on my behalf during these two months that were charged to my credit card since there was no service provided. I have not obtained any services of PERSONAL COACHING from this Merchant during the last two months. Furthermore, I have only received a temporary credit on my bank account during the time that they investigate this case. The money can be taken back to the Merchant at any time, especially since they are providing these false documents. I still expect my refund, and will take this case to Court if needed, and I have not permanently received my money back. Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2022/05/19) */ The consumer elected ro become a client 11/20 in the midst of thr pandemic as we scrambled to move services online. .she was only required to sign any documentome time via scan to our agency and every subsequent program she attended the documents were online. Whether she chooses to acknowledge our businesse practices does not negate them or our standing behind them. She has attended 3 coaching programs and all Coaching fees include thr pschyo-social activities and groups..only free as part of thr paid program Thank you for your time on this bbb
