Originally I booked this event space with a deposit of $400 for Feb 12, 2022. I tried multiple times to request a cancellation of my event during the last three weeks in December, no one responded until after New Years. They stated there was no refund. I the. Tried to reschedule my event and communication ceased. After multiple attempts to communicate, without any answer, I used another email address to contact the event center/staff. They responded and stated I could update my event date to September 10th. On 1/28/22 They stated they would send me a contract that needed to be signed and an invoice. Since then I have reached out 6 times via email, the phone and text. No response. I have not secured this booking due to no contract being sent and I have now booked another event center that was holding my date just in case 248 event space didn't confirm my date. I am fully convinced they do not wish to do business with me. With the numerous emails and communication attempts made, I don't have any other reason to think the opposite. I would like to receive my $400 deposit back.

    Business response

    03/28/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/02/24) */ Unfortunately, As mentioned on all documentation, the security deposit is nonrefundable as we reiterated on numerous occasions via text, call, and email where it's displayed on the booking and invoice given. We've been very accommodating with rescheduling the date on multiple occasions with the same deposit which would've been forfeited on the initial reschedule but we were trying to accommodate the client as we understand things happen. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/02/25) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) In my initial booking for 2/12 I never received the invoice that the business sent to me yesterday. The e reason I am requesting the refund is because the business stopped responding to me when I was requesting the "contract", the "invoice" and all other documentation they said they would send me in order to reserve the September date. I tried multiple times. This business will be responsive and when you ask too many questions, they stop responding. Due to the lack of response, I was proactive and sought out other halls that I could use as a plan b. I stated that in my emails to them where they never responded. The only reason this business is responding to me now is because of the BBB complaint that I filed. I never received anything via text, no phone calls from this business. In our email chain I expressed my gratitude with how they were able to switch my date. However after that email, I did not receive anything back from them. The bottom line of this complaint is that the business ceased all communication with me which lead me to book my event with another hall. 248, you stopped communicating. I checked your Facebook and you actively post there. I pulled your phone number from your Facebook profile and called. I even text. And nothing. I could not continue to move forward with this booking without a response from you. As a client this was not a ideal situation, especially when I'm booking vendors and I need to know where I have to send them. If the shoe was on the other foot, you would not appreciate a business telling you that your deposit can be moved to a new date, however the date is not reserved until a contract has been signed and to never receive the requested contract. I never received a contract with my initial booking for 2/12, and I didn't receive one for the new September event date. For the 2/12 original booking I received one email from wix booking that stated my balance and the date that I requested. Is this not unprofessional on your behalf? I'm not a complicated client, I booked another venue due to you no longer communicating with me. I reached out to your business on multiple occasions. If I didn't file the BBB complaint, and didn't book another hall, I would still be emailing you and texting you and calling to obtain a contract that doesn't exist. I do not accept your response, as you are not taking accountability in this issue. Consumer Response /* (3000, 13, 2022/03/11) */ LC 03/11/2022- BB asks that the business provide a copy of signed contracts.
