Well. We were recommended to them for being reasonably priced and nice people. They put USED PARTS on our car and we were over an hour away from home, and the back wheel started to sound and feel like it was going to fall off. We barely made it back home. It was INCREDIBLY dangerous, not to mention very very scary for myself and two of our small children who were with us!! I cannot believe it was allowed to put such used parts on our car. 1, they didn't tell us they were putting used parts on our vehicle. And 2, they overcharged us by about $700. AND they broke a part and made US pay for it!!! I honestly think it's because I'm a small girl and they think "well she doesn't know anything about cars. Let's get one over on her" they said they wouldn't charge us labor for the part they broke but then they tried to. Until I told them "Hey that's $300 more than you told me on the phone" and they were like "uhhhhhhhh oh." And fixed it. Even when we called them out on putting used parts on the car they played dumb "what??? No we didnt!".... "it says USED right here"..... "uhhhhh oh. Yeah. We did" Do not go here. They will end up making your car worse. Or worse! Making you get into an accident because they didn't fix it right because they don't care!I am so so disappointed in this place. I cannot believe there aren't 500 more complaints! It's back in the shop now for them to fix it AGAIN. If they fix it with new parts for free, since they scammed and could have seriously hurt us, maybe I'll add 1 more star and give them 2.

Ms. * brought her 2017 **** Explorer into our shop back on July 30, 2024 asking us to diagnose a high pitch squeaking noise experienced at low speed along with wanting us to check the exhaust and look at the wiper blades which were stuck. Upon test driving her Explorer, we found that the noise was from the right rear wheel bearing and attempted to get the bearing out of the spindle, however it was frozen. Our owner, **** ********************, who is also our head service writer, then called Ms. * on the phone to tell her about this and told her that we could replace the spindle/knuckle assembly that contains that bearing with a used one as it would save her approximately $440.00. He got her approval to replace the assembly with a used one before the work was performed. We always get approval from our customers before performing any work, and because of our concern for our customers, we always advise them about their options if considering a used part. We purchased the used assembly for $145.00 and charged Ms. * only $166.00 for the part along with 3 hours of labor. We also aligned all wheels for 1 hour of labor and replaced the lateral arm for no additional labor charge. We also checked her exhaust which was found to not have a leakthis was no charge. We checked the wipers and found that the wiper switch was bad. We replaced the switch and charged her for 2 hours of labor plus the switch itself. When Ms. * came to pick up her Explorer and pay her bill on August 2, 2024, it was printed clearly on her invoice that the assembly was a used part as she had given us her approval to use it. Ms. * noticed that the total bill was more than she was quoted on the phone, so the service writer who was helping her (who was not the one who quoted her the estimate) found Mr. ******************** in the shop. He was the service writer who gave her the estimate. Upon reviewing the invoice, he realized that he had made a mistake when calculating the final billing which he immediately corrected. To address the concerns of Ms. *: we did not put used parts on her Explorer without her knowledge (she was contacted by phone prior to performing any work), we did not overcharge her by $700 (there was a $300 billing error which was immediately corrected upon discovering the honest mistake), we did not break a part (the bearing was already frozen when the Explorer was brought in), and we did not charge her for labor for replacing what she is claiming was a broken part (we charged her the appropriate labor for replacing the assembly since the bearing was frozen). We regret that Ms. * had a bad experience on her way home, however we test drove her Explorer before she picked it up, and it had no issues. There is always the chance that a used part may fail which is why we do not use them very often and always get approval ahead of performing the work. This is what happened to Ms. *, and we have since replaced the wheel bearing with a new bearing at no charge.Cheseldine Tire & Auto has been a thriving business in **************** for over 30 years. We work very hard to take good care of all our customerskeeping them happy and safewhich our many return customers would agree with. ********************** not only has a large family of repeat personal customers, but we are also blessed with the opportunity to serve many commercial customers in our area. We are very proud of the business we have built and of our dedicated employees that have made it possible.
