I purchased 1,200 SQFT of 3/4" thick x 6" and 7" wide mixed chestnut flooring on Feb 3rd 2022 and put a $4,850 downpayment via check. When I went to pick it up around Feb 17th I paid the $4,850 balance in cash. When I got there the roads were wet and they had it all wrapped up in plastic so I didn't want to open it since I was putting it on a trailer to haul back to Ohio. Once I got it home and unwrapped and measured it I found I was approximately 350 SQFT short. Upon calling them in an attempt to get the 350 SQFT balance I was owed they stated they would check it. They then sent me an email (screenshot attached) stating they were sending me a check for the missing amount. The check that came was for $500 and by my estimation should have been higher by about $2,300 to account for the missing approx. 350 SQFT. The pile measures about 9' at the longest point by 42" (3.5') by 30" high even if the pile was solid at that size of 3/4" thickness 9' x 3.5' x 30" high counting there are only 36 rows you would only have 1,134 SQFT which is approximately what the check was for but is still less than the ordered amount. Attached is a photo showing a lot of empty space in the pile making the missing amount closer to 350 SQFT.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/03/31) */ Complaint Case # 36188132 - ***** ****** External Inbox ****** ****** <*******@coloniallumber.com> Wed, Mar 30, 10:27 AM (1 day ago) to me We have received the complaint and have read it. He picked his flooring up here a had seen it before paying the final amount. The customer has revived 1,200 sq.ft. 6"- 7" w , but with all reclaimed wood floors there is waist when installing, and that is why we sent the check to help of $500. Thank You ****** ****** Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/02) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) When I arrived to pick up the flooring it was wrapped so I was unable to actually look at the product. When I returned with it to my location and removed the wrapping that is when I was made aware that I am approximately 350 square feet short. They had stated in previous correspondence that the counter read 1200 but there is a difference between square feet and lineal feet. The product has not been installed and is still in the original form minus the wrapping, so their reference to "waste" is not accurate. The dollar amount that I am out was $2800.00 they sent a check for $500.00 so I am still short on product and money. I would be perfectly fine with them just sending me the rest of my order.
