The problem is lack of communication between Bill, the owner of CBJ Home Improvement, the contractor working with his company, *******, and myself which resulted in a concrete patch which starkly contrasts with the rest of the concrete on my driveway and a concrete pour which did not include the requirement of expansion joints required by the International Residential Code, the International Building Code and the American Concrete Institute.

We received the complaint; we disagree with the requirement for color matching because it is not listed in the contract. There are the required expansion joints to industry standard. We like to go through arbitration.

    Thank You

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
CBJ Home Improvement did not fulfill their contractual obligation. They agreed to pour a 25’ x 5’ concrete patch on my parking pad. The width which they poured measures less than 4’ at the widest section at the end of the parking pad & less than 3’ wide in the remainder. There are no control joints to allow the concrete to expand as specified in the contract. The contract states that contractors & subcontractors are licensed and the subcontractor, ******** ************, is not a licensed subcontractor.

Communication was unprofessional & there was no effort on the part of CBJ to provide options other than arbitration on this contract which CBJ did not fulfill.
    Sincerely,

    ******** ******

On this Complaint we our position is the following,

We require payment for the job at the address based on the contract that was signed.

We will be going to arbitration if this issue is not resolved.

    Better Business Bureau:

I reject the offer of Arbitration for complaint ID ********.

In order to resolve this complaint, CBJ Home Improvement will need to fulfill their contract which they signed for the job at the address, **** **** ******, Baltimore 21230 or accept a reduction in payment for their unfinished work.

    Sincerely,

    ******** ******

CBJ Home Improvement broke their contract. I have filed a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General to resolve.

I entered into a contract with CBJ Marketing Group (“CBJ”) to complete a bathroom renovation, and am seeking to go through arbitration because I had to pay another contractor (******** **********) $10,400 to fix issues CBJ caused during this renovation. William M**** at CBJ never verified that the work was completed, but after the contractor assigned to the job was done, we noticed some issues due to standing water in the shower. After a couple of months, I noticed it looked like there might be some moisture or mold issues behind the wall tile of the shower. I had contractors look into it and they confirmed it looked like mold could grow or was growing behind the tile up against the shower pan. I entered into a contract with ******** ********** (“********”) to address the issue. When they started demo, they found some additional issues and mistakes CBJ made during the initial renovation. My contract with ******** ********** ended up amounting to $10,400 to correct these issues (paid in full 11/7/2023). I am seeking $10,330 in compensation because I would not have had to spend this money if CBJ had done the original renovation correctly.

    Dear BBB of Greater Maryland,

I am writing in response to the complaint by ***. We entered into a contract in February of 2022. Work began approximately May of 20022 and completed in June of 2022. We were able to confirm that work was completed via photos by the installer. We were unable to confirm any mold moisture issues because we were notified of this in January of 2025 via an MHIC complaint (see attached documents). This was after ***. entered and completed a contract with another company. ***. did not allow us an opportunity to correct these allegations. Furthermore, the disputed amount is incorrect, as there is an outstanding balance of $3,760.00. Which can be found in the attached document. We apologize for any misunderstanding. We respectfully request for this complaint to be dismissed. Please reach out for any additional questions or comments.

    Respectfully,
    CBJ Home Improvement
