  On June 10th I arrived at The Old Orchard Beach Inn after three hours of driving to discover that the locks at the inn are all keyed the same. So any guest can access another guest's room. As a single woman traveling alone this was very concerning. That should have been all the warning that I needed not to check in, but I was very tired and just wanted to get some rest.I went up to my room to find that the ** in my room was broken, and it was almost 80 degrees in the room. I went downstairs to let the staff know and I asked for a different room and was told that was not possible. Even though I am fairly certain they had a vacancy sign up out front. The staff then strung me along for 2.5 hours telling me they would have somebody come and look at it, etc. "I'll be back in ten minutes.", "Maintenance will be here in twenty."I repeatedly asked to check out and for a refund since it was too hot to stay in my room and it was getting late and I would need to find other lodging. They routinely ignored me and acted like I was not there.After my fourth request to check out was ignored, I decided to pack my car and phone the police so I could leave. It was only then that a different room became available.I travel a good deal and have never experienced anything like this. It was insane. I've never had a clerk ignore a request to check out. If you are a single woman and traveling alone I would avoid this place at all costs. Any guest with a key can access any room. While it is possible to secure the room when you are in it, there is zero way to secure it while you are out. Anybody that wanted to could walk in and rummage about your things or lie in wait. It's a huge safety and security risk.The owners have refused my refund request so I am now out $360 and several hours of my time.

  The business still refuses to refund me for my room even though the room was not as advertised with a broken AC and could not be secured while I was out as all of the interior lock and main door are keyed the same. This is a business to avoid for sure.
