A complaint was filed with the state of Michigan - it is attached as well as some photos from the Adrian City inspector - there were over 40 but the site would not let me attach all of them- on the substandard work done by the company and more recent photos of the work that was done falling off the wall and leaving a gaping hole that should have been repaired open to water. These people should not be in business -Initial Complaint

I hired Brown and sons to replace my roof on May 10th 2023, for the amount of 20,900.00 I was to receive a seamless steel/metal roof and made my down payment of 1/2 down on May 10th 2023 for the amount of 10,450.00. At this time *** ***** told me it would be about 6-8 weeks out. The check was cashed on May 12, 2023. I have spoke to the Operational Manager ****** who is ***s Father on 7/5 and he stated that the guy who was going to over see the project had some family emergencies and had to deal with these issues. ****** stated that if all else fails he would personally come out and over see the project himself and I would have my roof by month end 7 2023. On 8/15 I called them again and asked about the roof, ****** stated that the guy is coming back to work on Thursday 8/17 and they can start my job the middle of next week, 8/23. On 8/24 I contacted my Lawyer . On 8/25 at 11:01 AM and gave Brown & Sons a written statement saying that I was canceling my agreement and I want my down payment back. They told me that's not how it works, and they will give this to their lawyer and he will be in touch. All attempts to contact Brown and Sons have been initiated by me, they have told me on numerous occasions that they will be starting my roof and don't show up or contact me They have failed to bring material to my house which they say they have purchased, and they know I have leaks in my roof, which I told them from the beginning of May. I am requesting my down payment back so I can get my roof repaired. Thank youBusiness response

I would like to respectfully request the opportunity to reject the response submitted by Brown & Sons to my complaint (********, filed 2/12/2023).
Due to the ice storm and damage resulting from the ice storm I was without power 2/22/2023-2/26/2023 and without internet access 2/22/2023-2/27/2023 and again 3/3/2023 - 3/4/2023.
I have reached out to the township building inspector to confirm issuance of the appropriate permit(s) and additional details of it. I was informed that permit ******** was pulled on 1/19/2023 (3 1/2 weeks prior to the filing of my complaint).
It is my belief that if it was the intention of Brown & Sons to complete the job and to correct the deficient work they would have reached out to me directly to advise that the permit had been secured and to schedule time to resume work. Instead, this information was withheld, and they chose to wait almost two weeks to respond to this complaint.
This work was contracted almost 2 years ago. I believe that they are playing games and I therefore maintain my original request.
Please contact me at your earliest opportunity to discuss.
Regards,

My mother, **** ********, is elderly, 79 years old. I am writing this on behalf of her. My mom got a new concrete driveway in the last couple of years. It was done by a professional, **** **** Concrete and there was no damage or cracks in it, other than the control joints. My mom had Brown & Sons put a new roof on a couple of months ago. The workers were fantastic. They appeared to do a fantastic job on the roof. They were done in one day, including tear off and new roof. They had a roll-off dumpster put on her driveway for this job for all the old shingles. It wasn't until after the job was done and the dumpster removed that she/we discovered the dumpster cracked her driveway. It is the ONLY cracks/damage on her driveway. It lined up with one of the wheels on the roll off. I called Brown & Sons on behalf of my mother. I explained the situation to them. The gentleman on the phone said he would take a look at it. They have not contacted my mother for any follow up. The bottom line is: When someone pays a company to install a new roof, they should NOT have concerns that their new concrete driveway will be cracked. ******* ******** ************Business response
