12/7/22 we started a bathroom toilet leak repair that ultimately was worse than we thought. We removed toilet and some laminate flooring. We found we needed to remove vanity & all flooring in the bath. That led to discovering the water went into hall then into the kitchen, so we cont'd rmvng all flooring but approximately 25 % of the kitchen floor( all lower cabinets sat on laminate floor) We removed an end cabinet & moved stove to remove flooring. Debris was put onpatio. We found the furnace condensation pump quit which resulted in that water mixing with sewage water (furnace in laundry closet in bath) Drywall next to the furnace was moldy. we stopped both leaks, soaked/mopped up water, cleaned all floors with microbial agent, sprayed visible mold with bleach agent/mold killer. I called Hartford Ins 1st thing on 12/8/22. They sent Service Master of Flint that morning. They cut wet & moldy drywall out, removed our bath entry door and both colonial style doors for the laundry/furnace area in the bath, removed a couple cabinets on other side of stove, a few feet of laminate flooring, all toe kick under all the remaining cabinets, they set up containment wall encompassing the kitchen, hallway, bedroom and bath, set up 10 air movers, 1 dehumidifier and an air scrubber. The main guy said they would remove rest of cabinets & set up a temp. sink after it was dry. The main guy came back 12/12/2022 picked up equipment, kind of vacuumed and said they were done. Because they removed all toe kick they should have seen the over abundance of mold that they exposed. They left me in this warm containment area with mold spores blowing around for almost 5 full days. They billed my ins. *** for spraying a microbial agent which they did NOT do, they billed for pulling all nails and drywall s**** which they did NOT do. They billed fraudently and were paid by my ins. *** I truly hope I don't get some respiratory issues due to mold spores.

    Customer response

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your rejection of the business's response.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:

They were in fact dispatched by our ****************** The ********.  They were NOT told we didnt have coverage for mold as we DO have a rider for mold coverage and this was explained explicitly with the worker in charge who was there.  Its sad that a company has to lie about such things.

    Regards,

    ***** & ***************
