I echo the other review on here about VERY bad customer service. We had a clog for two sinks that connect together, and one guy came out to snake them. They wouldn't tell me the cost over the phone but charged $99 to come out. I already had everything disassembled and good to go, and I said I could put everything back together; I just needed the clog cleared. A younger guy came out and said it would be $625 and that the disassembly or reassembly made no difference because it was a set rate. This tells me that they basically always charge $625 (see the other review on here) and they purposefully don't tell people this until they come out and make you pay $99.He proceeded to try a manual snake before bringing in a powered snake machine. We have original, ancient, cast-iron pipes (house was built in the 1950s). He used the machine for 15+ minutes and put multiple holes in the cast-iron piping under the sink and into the wall. Water started leaking into our basement when he tested to see if the clog was clear. Despite the fact that he clearly caused the damage himself by using a powered machine on ancient cast-iron piping for too long, he not only didn't take any responsibility but he wanted to charge us $500 to come back in a few days with a camera to "diagnose" how much of the pipe was damaged and give a quote to fix it. When I asked how much it could be, he estimated $5,000 to $6,000 for half a days work and potentially replacing a couple feet of pipe. And he didn't even fix the clog. (Credit where credit is due, he didn't charge us the $625 since he didn't fix the clog.) Needless to say we will NOT be going with this company EVER again, and we are pursuing other avenues to fix our pipe. They should have given a free diagnosis at least; preferably, they should have offered to fix the damage free of charge, being that they were the ones who caused it. My advice is to stay away from this company and make sure others know about this company's horrible policies.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent experience with Pete Black Plumbing. We genuinely regret that you were dissatisfied and would like to address your concerns directly.First and foremost, we strive to provide transparent pricing and professional service. Our $99 service call fee, disclosed upfront, ensures that a licensed plumber can evaluate your issue onsite and recommend a solution. The quote you received for clearing your clogged sinks reflects the complexity of working with older systems, such as the cast-iron pipes in your home. We understand that unexpected costs are frustrating, but we base our rates on industry standards to provide quality and safe service.Regarding the damage to your pipes, it is not uncommon for aged, deteriorating cast iron (dating back to the 1950s) to develop weaknesses that cannot always be predicted. While we empathize with the situation, it is important to note that the integrity of your plumbing system is directly influenced by its age and prior maintenance. Our technician worked carefully, using tools appropriate for the job, but older pipes can sometimes fail under even minimal ********* help resolve the matter, our technician waived the $625 fee for the unsuccessful clog removal. Additionally, the offer to perform a camera inspection was intended to give you a clear picture of the extent of the pipe damage and provide options for repair, should you choose to proceed. We understand that this situation has been upsetting and are committed to helping homeowners make informed decisions about their plumbing systems. While this experience was not ideal for either party, we acted in good faith to provide professional service and fair pricing under challenging circumstances. If you would like to discuss this matter further or explore additional solutions, we are here to help.Sincerely,Pete Black Plumbing

Very bad customer care. They came out and snaked (one) downstairs shower drain which took their worker less than an hour and he charged us $625.00. I think that's price Gouging! My wife was there, I was not, they said she agreed to the price, but what was she supposed to do?, pay the $99.00 service call and send him away with the drain still draining slow? I think let take advantage of people and know most people want there problem resolved without having to waste $99.00 and call another Company. I can see $200.00 or $250.00 for a simple snake cleaning which took less than an hour but $625.00 is outrageously un ethical. Very sad to see businesses take advantage of people in need.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take all reviews seriously and strive to provide quality service with complete transparency. However, wed like to clarify a few important points regarding your experience. Our technician provided upfront pricing before any work was performed, and we only proceed once the customer approves the estimate. In this case, your wife agreed to the quoted amount before the technician began the job, as is standard practice. We understand the importance of making informed decisions, and we always encourage our customers to ask questions and consider their options carefully before proceeding. While we understand your frustration regarding the cost, it's important to note that our pricing reflects the expertise, tools, and efficiency we bring to every job. We ensure our work is completed thoroughly and correctly the first time to save our customers from further inconvenience or future issues. Many companies offer lower prices but often result in longer downtime or hidden costs. We value our customers and work hard to deliver solutions they can trust. We believe that taking the time to understand the value behind a service helps avoid misunderstandings like this. In the future, we recommend taking the time to evaluate options or contacting us with any concerns before authorizing work to proceed. If you have further questions or wish to discuss this matter, were happy to connect with you directly.Sincerely,Pete Black Plumbing
