I am a single woman home on medical leave. When I returned from the hospital after 5 days inpatient I smelled water in my basement. I called Roto-Rooter of ****** **. The quote was for $395.00 to clean out drain plugged in my basement. The man that arrived was morbid obese and moved at a snail's pace. After three hours of yelling/swearing in my basement he proceeded to tell me that I owed him $1400 for three hours of work that I did NOT approve. Never in the three hours he was here did he once come upstairs to run any additional cost by me. I did not sign anything. After giving him $400 in cash, he demanded I write him a check or give him my credit card. Being home alone I gave the credit card knowing I could dispute the charge as I did not feel safe with him in my home and just wanted him out of my house. I called Roto-Rooter to make a complaint and "******" answered the phone the same man that came to my home. I asked for his manager/supervisor or any above him to speak to about this disputed charge. He said there is no one else I could speak to. I informed him I was disputing the charge due to lack of knowledge prior to his $500 an hour charge. He replied with " I will see you in court" . This man should not be in business. He is overcharging and took advantage of the fact I am home now on medical leave and a single woman. He did not ever run any additional cost by me in the entire time he was in my home. He also broke the drain cover that he was cleaning out and never informed me of this. (I have now ordered a new one at my expense) He also left a metal cap in the center of my floor, that my dog could of easily injured her paw on. He left a mess and did not even attempt to clean up any of the water that was in the basement, yet charged me a "clean up fee" The entire experience was a nightmare. Thank you for your time.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:  No information given to me other than $400 to clean drain.   (I could of hired a plumber for $140 an hour to do this)  Never authorized any additional payment for services.   Drain also plugged up two days after he left my house!! Backed up and I have video if needed.  Also he broke my drain cover and did not inform me of this.  I have paid to replace this drain cover myself.

     Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    ******* **********
