For the last few years, we have had Diversified Financial, Inc. complete and submit our taxes. This spring we had our usual tax preparer, from Diversified Financial, Inc. (*******************************), prepare and submit our taxes. Our Michigan State Tax refund for 2023 was $2,471. In May we contacted Diversified Financial, **** to find out when we would be seeing our Michigan State Tax refund, as it had not been deposited into our bank account yet and were told that it was on its way. Several weeks later their response was that it had been direct deposited into our bank account. We checked our account and found that it had not been deposited into our bank account. When we called them back and explained that it had not been deposited into our bank account, we were told that they would look into it. We waited but they did not call us back, so we called again. This time they said that our Michigan State Tax refund had been sent to an account at ************** and we would have to contact them to get our refund back. I asked them how my refund ended up in a ************** Account instead of my bank account and was told that the routing had been changed by someone at the Michigan Department of Treasury. I asked to get an appoint with our tax preparer and was told that he was on vacation and would not be back for weeks. i was also told that there was nothing he could do and that i would need to contact ************** myself to resolve the issue. So I contacted Green Dot and they told me that I needed the account number. I contacted the Michigan Department of Treasury and told them what was going on. They informed me that it was impossible for anyone, at the Department of Treasury, to change the routing. She told me that I should contact the police because the routing had to be changed at Diversified Financial, **** Every time I try contacting them, I get the run around. Whether it is criminal or incompetents, It is looking like they are going to get away with costing me $2,471

For the last two years we have had Diversified Financial, Inc. complete and submit our taxes. We paid We reached to our tax preparer $737 for their services. On May 9th asking when we should see our return, as it hadnt come in yet. On May 14th her response was that the *** site showed it had been deposited on May 1st (this amount would be and we were most likely the victims of identity theft. She included a few steps of what we should do, but via email and during phone conversations let us know there was nothing she could do to help. After discussions with the *** and our bank, we were able to discover that Diversified Financial submitted our return with our correct bank information, however, the software that they used was intercepted and our return has not gone to another account in someone elses name. The *** agents we are working with have informed us, this is not identity theft, it is a matter of our tax preparer systems being compromised and now we must wait 120 days for both of our returns to be traced. It has been disappointing that I have reached out asking to speak with the owner with no return call. When I called the office today trying to learn more information about the software they used, I was asked to hold and then hung up on. We are missing thousands of dollars and we paid a large sum of money for this to be handled and now all of our information is compromised. My husbands credit card was just compromised this week and had to be shut down, we are almost certain its related as someone now has all of our information. The *** has advised us to file a Tax preparer ***** form, which is an official tax preparer complaint and we have done that. We have also been advised that we should file a police report and we are reaching out to discuss with an attorney since Diversified is not interested in communicating with us.
