I signed up with this company to settle debt. After 3 months of them taking money out of my checking account totalling $1050.00 and no results or work on their part, I canceled and requested all my money back. They then starting sending emails offering a settlement option for one of my accounts that was double the amount, my daughter and I had already settled and told *** it was already done and to move on to another account. Instead of moving on to another account, they sent the option to settle that same account 4 more times which I declined. I finally got tired of it and called several times to cancel their service and get refunded which they kept saying they would but then never did. Finally on about the 6th time I called and insisted on cancelling and being fully refunded, they finally cancelled but only refunded $771.57 of the $1050.00 they took. They owe me $278.43. I spoke to an agent named **** on Jan 8th, ***************************************************** because there were no services rendered. Another problem with this company is that even with me telling them to talk to my daughter about this because she pays my bills, they refused to talk to her without getting all her personal information. The insurance companies and other places she takes care of things for me never asked for such. She is helping with this too.

*** was suppose to reduce my debt with my creditors one year ago. They have not even contacted all my creditors. I have gotten court notice sueing me by creditor that GRT told us was settled. Also we had excellent credit and now our credit is so low. We contacted them for a loan on our house and ended up with this mess. This has ruined us.

We cancelled the program with GRT Financial after we had enrolled in November 2024. As of January 10, 2025, we had paid them 2 payments of ****** totaling $962.16 + application fee of $21.80 and a $290 enrollment fee. My wife, ****** has spoken to GRT financial several times over the last week, including numerous supervisors and members of the escalation team. Today we received a refund of$496.96 and was told by *******, we got what we were owed. After a few minutes of explaining that we received several different answers, including by a manager named *****, that we were getting a full refund since after 3 months and almost $1000 in the account, they had not even begun to call my creditors or begin negotiations. The main reason we had cancelled, when we joined the program in November, we had a personal loan by our credit union that we wanted to include. We were assured that you work with all sorts of banks and credit unions to resolve debts. We put our faith in this program and with good intentions of working to pay off the debt we incurred from my wife being extremely ill for over 9 months on dialysis and a kidney transplant in March 2024. She had several severe complications and the expenses we had as a result were life altering. We joined this program for help and on Monday the 13th, our bank accounts were frozen, all our money taken to catch up on the missed payments and default on the personal loan. We were lied to and misinformed and as a result, we are now in worse situation than we were in November. When I spoke to Supervisor ***** as well as ****** in the escalation team- I would be receiving a full refund of ****** within 7 to 10 business days but generally less time because it is an EFT. I received half today and was told by ******* I was not owed anything else. NO DEBTS WERE NEGOTIATED, After 3 months, I should get all money back including enrollment fees and application fees, legal fees of $240 and $12.80 monthly fee from crossroads.

GRT Financial values the opportunity to address and respond to the concerns raised by our former client, and we sincerely apologize for any frustration caused during this process. After a thorough review, we can confirm that the initial refund estimate was accurate. The remaining balance has been refunded and should be reflected in the clients bank account within 5-7 business days. We regret any confusion caused by conflicting information provided after their cancellation and trust this refund satisfies our former clients expectations. Should any further questions or concerns arise, our *************** Team is available to assist at any time. We wish our former clients continued success on their journey toward financial freedom.

They withdrawal 587 dollars every month from my account for the last 16 months. Once i signed on with this company they told me to stop paying all my creditors. They have failed to contact all my creditors. Each month they only pay 100 dollars to my creditors will fees account for the other money collected each month from my account. When asked about these fees they do not respond. They contract with another company call B Crossroads which states they know nothing about the fees. They also charge 10 dollars per check fee when they send money to each of your creditors. Check fee aren't we in 2025 and should just automatically send via automatic payment? There is a 55 dollar fee each month that goes to legal fees. Really I got served about a creditor that I owe ***** to and they have really d9ne nothing for me. I have requested from my bank and *** to stop withdrawals from my bank account.

GRT Financial values the opportunity to address and respond to the concerns raised. A member of our *************** team successfully contacted our client to discuss the progress of their program and to reiterate the information previously communicated via email and outlined in the enrollment agreement.
There are various reasons for structuring a negotiated settlement in a term format, and in this particular case, it was done to provide our client with the maximum savings while preventing litigation on their largest enrolled debt with a creditor known for expediting collection efforts. This approach also allows the clients dedicated savings account to accumulate in preparation for the next resolution.
Throughout the enrollment, three offers were successfully negotiated and approved by our client, two of which have been fully settled. For the remaining settlement, we strongly encourage the client to make timely payments to fully benefit from the negotiated terms. Our *************** team is available to guide them through this process and answer any questions they may have.
While GRT Financial does not have control over payment processing fees, our negotiators choose the most reliable and acceptable payment methods based on prior experience with creditors. Additionally, GRT Financial cannot prevent a creditor from pursuing legal action, which is why we recommend enrollment in a third-party legal benefit plan for further assistance, as this service cannot be provided by a non-attorney representative.
All fees assessed were in full compliance with the client enrollment agreement and all relevant state and federal regulations once a settlement was reached and approved by the client. We regret that the information provided did not meet the clients expectations, and we remain available to address these concerns in more detail should the client be open to additional discussion.

I contacted ****** *** ********* about a letter saying I was pre-approved for a low interest loan so I could pay off my debt. When I called they said I was not eligible for the loan but they had a different program I was eligible for and they connected me with Get Relief Today (GRT) Financial. Long story short I gave them $1,122.11 over 3 months and they spread out the money over 3 of their companies including ***************************** *** **** and Get Relief Today (GRT) Financial. I requested the recording of my initial call where they say I agreed to pay a non-refundable $345 enrollment fee to this legal club along with $55 a month in fees. The recording I received never mentions this legal club and non-refundable fees. The contract they say I signed online shows this information but without a recording proving I agreed to this fee, I say they slipped this in and I was never notified or agreed to this $345 non-refundable amount. I canceled my contract with GRT Financial on 12/02/2024, spoke with a ***** ***** who said no additional money would be taken from my bank account. On 12/03/2024 $374.01 was taken from my back account. I received $606.91 in refund on 12/11/2024 from GRT Financial. I want the rest of my money $515.20. They not only took money out of my account after I cancelled my contract but they also paid fees to the legal club and ******* after my contract was cancelled and have not reimbursed me for any of those additional fees.

They only paid $400.00 to my creditor out of $3269.88 in installments, and they only got in touch with one creditor in six months. The remaining amount is made up of false fees that were not revealed, meaning I would have to pay them to do nothing. The fees were solely intended to be used for debt settlement. $55.00 BLP, a $290 enrollment fee, and $12.50 monthly service fees I can comprehend the $100 monthly fee that must be paid to the *** The remaining $2002.34 is all regarded as settlement expenses, though. It was significantly more than the agreed-upon % if this is based on a percentage of the settlement. The $2002.00 in fees I due are a straightforward ploy to defraud those who are in distress.

GRT Financial appreciates the opportunity to address the concerns presented by our former client. Our *************** Team has made multiple attempts to reach Ms. **** to discuss the fees assessed over the course of her program as a result of the work performed in accordance with the Client Enrollment Agreement, however our attempts have not been successful. Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:

If they have called, I have not received a message to let me know who it is. I am in debt and currently receive 20 plus calls a day from creditors as well as other loan companies attempting to gain business.

I would have paid $1382.34 to settle my $300.00 debt if they had filed for a return of $620.00. In other words, I fail to see how that would solve the problem. The issue is that they failed to fulfill their promises, and after waiting six months for them to do so, I am now even more indebted. I might have secured a consolidation loan instead of putting my trust in them, but now my credit has completely collapsed. Right now, my only option is to declare bankruptcy.

Because of their negligence, they have caused me a great deal of mental anguish and misery.
The contract said that they would only have assessed me a fee after the settlements were finalized. This solely applies to the Discover card, which was paid about $10,000. Additionally, they only spent $400.00 for it.

The $2,869.80 charge payment is unacceptable. It makes sense to pay the ** $400.00, the monthly charge of $12.50, which comes to $75.00, the enrollment price of $290.00, and an additional $55.00 for BLP. Even if they did return the $620.00, I would still be responsible for more than $1800.00 in fees. with nothing settled. Since Discover is no longer settled, I will be responsible for handling this alone. Additionally, the $400.00 is lost.

If we cannot come to a better conclusion, I will have my attorney contact them directly as I have now obtained pre-paid legal counsel.

This is due to the process being nothing more than a money grab during a persons attempt to get a reputable organization to help pay back negotiated balances. My intentions were in good faith by unfortunately there have been too many incidents of questionable deductions of our funds versus being used to pay down debts.I am also requesting return of our money for unauthorized or uncompleted services that were started and never completed but lost like a financial Settlements. One in July that was for 804$ that ledgers show $60 sent, then voided although money was there which supposedly caused the settlement to be lost. Then another attempt for $946 and some change in October of which now no one can figure out what happened. I also wanted to know what would happen with the phantom $60 that was paid to a creditor and was not given an answer. Never received Supr. ******** in essence, what is being done is fake starts on a settlement without finality so the 25% fee can be charged such as the $424.25 for the original amount of $1,699 then the follow through is never done in support of the client or cash cow. That shows no integrity. Then on 8 1 24, there is a fee for BLP which really does not serve me at all of $290 which looks like a fee to join?! If these people are affiliated with *** to represent clients, why is there a fee when there is an ONGOING $55 per month deduction to be used for just in case you need representation. If you need representation or advice, I am sure you will be required to pay an exorbitant amount, thus this is unnecessary. We have paid $1,189.64 into this program. Based on what *** is due based on overcharges and in completed negotiations, I am asking for the return of $912.47. A fair amount for the services would be the balance and that is generous in the amount of $277.17. Finally, it would be better to have specific account ***** for consistency and organization of the accounts. This would establish relationships.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:

The Representative that contacted me, ****** ********, was very Professional and detailed.  She explained what was before her and the process again in detail.  We walked through the ledger in front of her versus what was in my client site and there were discrepancies on dates of the $424 deduction which appeared much later than her dates shown.  She listened and we thank her for the refund of the unnecessary BLP money grab charges which contributed to shortfalls in the account that should have been money to pay the "settlements" that were dropped and never materialized.

Since no settlements ever materialized, there should be no settlement charges and the $424 + ***** should be returned as NOTHING happened.  It was a money grab when you look at the timing and the "settlements" were started simply to be able to charge the fees without finalizing anything for the client-me.

Best wishes to Ms. ******** and those with her professionalism, may she go far as she exudes the integrity and customer service skills needed for any business.

As far as GRT, wishes for better success for the clients and account representation with having a assigned **** for better customer service.  Best wishes for their overall success as this has been a learning experience and I appreciate that--to know to never do one again.

This company is a scam! Had been trying to cancel with them since Oct 4th. Kept getting the run around. Always someone will return your call. No one ever does. Only when they need to collect or trying to get you to sign on. I was able to settle accounts on my own so I wanted to lower my payment. They said no because of my settlements. They only settled one. Out of 10. I settled 3. But still wanted to keep the charge the same. When I called to cancel I was told by two representatives I would get a refund. Now they send a statement saying they charged their settlement fees. Over $600 in fees. Mind you I was only on the program for 3 months. This company is a scam! RUN! Do not sign with them! Im in a worse position now than what I was before! Save yourself a headache and money and settle directly with the creditors!

    Business response

GRT Financial appreciates the opportunity to research the concerns outlined, and apologize for any frustration caused during the cancellation process. We are working with the appropriate departments to evaluate refund eligibility, and will contact the claimant once that process has been finalized. Fees are assessed based on the work completed and not the length of enrollment, and those earned fees are commensurate with the amount of the debt negotiated as outlined in our client enrollment agreement. GRT Financial has no plan to pursue payment of the remaining earned, but unpaid, performance fees.

I signed up with GRT Financial in November 2023. When I enrolled with them they told me to immediately stop paying on my credit cards. They explained to send them all the latest invoices and they would then contact the companies directly to try to negotiate or settle the accounts and stop the interest. Yesterday 10/11/24 I was served papers for a suit from one of the companies. I now have more debt than when I started 11 months ago and my credit score has taken a hit of over 100 points. They told me "This can happen'. They falsely advertised what it is they do and how it is done.

    Business response

    10/23/2024

GRT Financial has reviewed the complaint from our client, and has taken steps to contact and discuss this matter. We do apologize for any frustration our client has experienced.

As discussed in writing and verbally prior to enrollment, debt settlement is an aggressive approach to resolving unsecured debt, and carries risks such as a temporary decrease in credit score and the potential for aggressive collection efforts by creditors including lawsuits. GRT Financial is fully equipped to negotiate with creditors who initiate legal action, and we expect to obtain an offer on our client's legal account prior to their court date. As each negotiated offer is fulfilled, our clients will see a positive credit impact as a result of the debt balance being reduced to $0. GRT Financial is not a credit repair organization and is unable to remove tradelines from consumer credit reports.

GRT will continue to work with our client to resolve their enrolled debt, and encourage ongoing communication with our *************** team to field any and all questions that arise throughout the program.
