On November 17, 2023, BBB Serving Eastern Michigan and Upper Peninsula contacted Complete Length LLC to request that they substantiate, modify, or discontinue advertising claims found on the business' website.
The following are examples, but not a comprehensive list of advertised claims for which BBB requested substantiation:
Peppermint Bliss: "helps fight cancerous cells", "provide good oxygen flow through the lungs", "eliminates sinus and respiratory infections" among other claims
Lipo Burn: "anti fungal", "reduce candida yeast"
Japanese Matcha Green Tea Lemon Burn: "cancer fighting properties"
"Protect yourself from Covid 19. Try our new tumeric and ginger- based product Defense."
"From passive income, your daily earnings can exceed over $1,000 a day."
The website includes testimonials, including claims Lemon Burn can mitigate symptoms of "chronic inflammation", "pain", "headaches", and "blood pressure".
According to the BBB Code of Advertising, "Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided.
The Code's Section 30. Testimonials and Endorsements states, in part, "advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if: It contains representations or statements which would be misleading if made directly by the advertiser; While literally true, it creates deceptive implications; A consumer's experience represented in an advertisement is not the typical experience of those using the product or service..."
Section 34. Claimed Results states, "Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data."
