Car was taken in to the muffler shop in Feb. with know fuel leak which was reported and part of what I was getting repaired. The shop fabricating the exhaust said the shop next door could check out the gas leak. That shop- Cuda Automotive told me I needed a new gas tank. They said the cost was ~$750 for the part and ~$500 for labor. I did think this was a high price for a fuel tank but did agree to go ahead as they could get it replaced within the week. I paid them $1611 when I picked up the car on 2/14/24. I drove the car less than a week before I needed to get gas and the gauge had made it's way to empty. I filled up the gas tank completely and the gas gauge that worked prior to the gas tank being replaced, now did not work! I called to inform them, they said bring it back in. I took it in on a Tuesday and then called on Wednesday when I did not hear anything. The receptionist tells me that the mechanic that worked on the car was not in the shop. So I asked when they would be back in. Their response was that they did not know because he was having some issues at home. I then inquired why they would even have me drop it off to just sit there!? I told them I would be picking up the car and would bring it back when the mechanic was back. They had no consideration to even communicate basic information, while I was having to borrow a car to get to work. I called back the following Monday and was told the mechanic was back and I could bring it in. THEY CHARGED ME ANOTHER $216 TO FIX THEIR MESS UP!I am beside myself at this point, but hopeful that I no longer have a gas leak and a working gauge.Silly me to think I could pay them now >$1800 to fix the fuel leak. Fast forward to April. My partner is out of town and I am using his car and mine is parked in the garage a few days. When I walk it there is a VERY STRONG *** ODOR. No way.....Yes way! I proceed to the area that the gas was leaking from before and sure enough there is a puddle of gas. My anxiety is on 100 and I have to call the shop to see if they guarantee their work, she says, "Yes, you can bring it in tomorrow."I drop the car off at **** and get a call a few hours later. The receptionist says, "it's not leaking gas. it's actually differential fluid." I reply, "Does differential fluid smell like gas?"She goes back to ask a mechanic and comes back with the answer I already knew-"No."So why does my garage smell of gasoline? I am beside myself at this point because I know they just don't want to take responsibility for another mess up on their part and they are truly ***LIGHTING me! I took the car home, put it over paper and also took a video of the gas dripping. I made my partner take the car back the next day with the actual proof so they could not disrespect him as they did me the day prior by totally DISMISSING THE *** LEAK and telling me it was not leaking gas. They decided to actually look at the car when he took it in. Now they say that it is leaking from the top and the part that is needed is no longer made. It would have to be ordered from ***** Their suggestion was to not fill up the tank completely as the fuel sensor wasn't sensing fuel at the top and therefor spilling out from the top.Really, so just don't fill up the tank? What kind of auto shop is this? My boyfriend brought the car home and I will not trust another word from that place.I found a reputable mechanic that was not going to make up things I needed and overcharge me, to fix the ACTUAL PROBLEM. When he did a diagnoses of the fuel leak, he found the parts needed and fixed it for less than $500. I do not believe that I even needed a new fuel tank. The tank may have been old and looked *****, but it was not leaking from the seams. I believe that they assumed it was the tank leaking and did not do a proper or thorough diagnoses of the car/problem. They took $1800 and did not fix the problem. They should not be allowed to practice business by ripping people off! I have all dated invoices and pictures from the mechanic that actually fixed the problem as well as a statement from him of his findings. One of which was the silicone that they used to hold the fuel sensor in place, but insisted to my boyfriend that they did not use. They have done nothing but lie and steal from the beginning.
