I lost two shingle panels in a recent storm. State Farm gave me Archway Consruction and they came out to evaluate the damage. They did not provide an estimate because the extent of the problem could not be determined until the work began. I agreed with the stipulation that if it were a small job the cost would not be excessive since I also provided the two shingle panels. I got a bill for $1200.00 until I told them that the insurance was not paying since I have a high deductible. After much haggling, they dropped the price to $1000.00 which in my opinion was still excessive. My insurance agent was appalled at the price gouging and assured me that this company would be removed from their referral list. The job required one man for about one hour or so. My attorney suggested they send me a refund of $400-$500 in leu of taking legal action. Any contact with me other than sending a check should be directed to State Farm agent **** ******* who assures me that this company will no longer be recommended. I have also contacted the BBB and the Minnesota Department of Commerce who will look into unethical business practices. Charlaine *****Archway Contracting, Inc. Response

We would respectfully disagree with Ms. Skeels review for multiple reasons. She had a previous company come out to try to repair her 4 missing shingles and they did it poorly and incorrectly. They put a patch over the shingles so that water still came through the roof, which is why she was recommended to Archway. Our representative came out and supplied an estimate for the repairs ($1150) She initially mentioned the price was too high. Our project manager let her know that he understood and she was free to get other bids and use someone else if that was the route she wished to take as we never know what we may find under the patch so it was difficult to bid something unseen. She then agreed upon the price and signed the contract ($1150) and asked us to do the repair, which we did within the week. Our technician did the full repair in a timely manner and it was done right. Ms. Skeel then asked about the price again even though she signed the work order for that amount. Our project manager then reduced her bill by $150. She seemed satisfied and even gave our project manager a hug and thanked him. Then this review was posted. Not sure what we could have done differently here. We pride ourselves on our work and our ethics. We have over 200 reviews on Google and Facebook that show we do the right thing and do it well. We have all the documentation to refute her claims and are asking the BBB to remove this unwarranted review.Review from Chamroeun C

We was in the process to sell our house over the summer. We had a buyer under contract to purchase and we need to repair the roof and windows from the last hail storm. Tom was recommended by our realtor to deal with the work. He met with the buyer and he want another $20k plus to replace the windows. Our insurance allows around $1000 already per windows. The buyers backed out of the purchase and our contract was terminated. I still think that the buyer canceled the contract because they didn’t want to spend anymore money repairing the house on top of the purchase price. I talked to Tom sometime in October about the whole deal and we had an understanding with his suggestion to cancel all repairs works. Just yesterday we had received a package in the mail with no name who’s is from and no name who is for, but it have our address on it. We was curious so we open up the package and it is Tom demanding us to proceed with us doing all repairs with his company or pay him 25 percent of the claim amount or he will send it collection attorney. Tom was always aggressive about him doing works and that he is the only option we got to do so. I told Tom when we last spoke back in October that he have no right to tell me what and who I can deal with about my insurance repairs claims. That when he told me that’s he will cancel it all. Since then I thought it was all done and no more harassment from him. Unfortunately we just received this threatening package with no name on it. I stand by my words and actions and If Tome wanted to be court as his threatening package then we will solve it in court.Archway Contracting, Inc. Response

************ is under contract to complete a new roof and the window sashes per his insurance claim.Item by Item on his review:We wanted another $20k to replace the windows. Not really true. The incoming buyer was hesitant because of the roof damage and the window damage to the home prior to their purchase. The roof was to be replaced, but insurance company was only paying for the window sashes to be replaced around the windows, but not the windows themselves. The prospective buyer wanted a price to replace all the windows with a high-end ****** Window Wood-Grain product and not just replace the window sashes and pay for it themselves. Our quote was reasonable and less than market. But yes, it was upwards of $20,000 that they were willing to pay out of pocket. The buyers backed out of the purchase agreement because they didnt want to spend more money. We believe that claim is false. There was damage to the home that needed to be fixed prior to a sale or agreed upon by the buyer and seller. This had nothing to do with Archway or ************ with *** in October and had understanding to cancel all repair work. This claim is false. We had been trying to reach ************ since August. *** had only spoken to him directly twice. He told *** that we should pay him to do his roof because He knew how this worked and done that work before. He wanted a percentage of the roof profits by altering the insurance invoices. This is Insurance fraud so *** would not agree to anything of the sort. Even with this, *** was still willing to do the roof for the agreed upon price and in a timely manner.*** was always aggressive. False. *** was seeking a small down payment to work on the job. All jobs require this and more. Since ************ was non-communicative, *** reached out to ************ weekly to try to find resolution and receive a deposit. *** only spoke with him directly twice. If that is aggressive, we would respectfully disagree.Since then I thought is was all done. . . . False. Perhaps, in his mind if ************ ignored it long enough he thought it would go away.We receive a package in the mail with no name on it. . . . . False. Archways VP of Operations,***, filled out the form and the envelope before sending it to ************. It was a **** 2-day Envelope with a sticker with our name on it and return address and addressed to *************We are happy to provide you with a copy of the letter sent to him as well.Archway tried to communicate with ************ to find a solution. Over 20 times over 4 months Via phone, text, voicemail, email and letter. The owner of Archway, ***, has tried as well and left three separate voicemails to discuss with ************ what was happening with this project. With no response, Archway sent a letter via certified mail to ************ outlining his contract with us, that does entitle us to 25% of the contract, to encourage ************ to contact Archway and work on a resolution, but ************ chose to contact the BBB to complain instead.Archway feels that because ************ is not allowed to profit off of his insurance claim, he chose to ignore the signed contract rather than adhere to the terms of the agreement. Archway outlined the contract and that we had some costs into his project in time, fees, and resources to make sure it was done properly. He essentially ghosted us. We certainly hope that you will take these facts into consideration and not allow this fraudulent post to stand or be posted. Archway has built a great business and *** is well respected in the industry. Our ratings on ****** and ******** prove this. Are we perfect, no, but we certainly try to be and we stand by what we do and fix things if they are not 100%.Appreciate your time.Review from Virginia Z

I am appalled at gutter installation that obstructs EMERGENCY EXITS from townhomes in our complex! I contacted them and without any concern they said “you should contact your association “. This must be illegal and should be corrected immediately.Review from Ellen B

Archway replaced our hail damaged roof this Spring. Matt was our sales manager and worked with our insurance company. He gave an honest quote in the Fall of 2022 with work planned in 2023. Dave was the manager of the project and he and his crew did a great job! On time, efficient, communication perfect and done in one day! Pick up was spotless and saw multiple passes of the yard to make sure. They submitted extra charges to the insurance company without any hassle to us. Archway Contracting Inc was professional in the whole process and had excellent employees to work with. We highly recommend Archway. Ellen & Dave B.Review from Kirk L

We hired Archway Contracting to replace our roof and gutters after a large hail storm last summer. The project manager sent his crew to the wrong house the morning of the build. They arrived about three hours behind schedule and I believe they were pressured to complete my roof quickly leaving us with out of pocket expenses. They left the following three areas of our project unfinished and incomplete. They left a hole in the *** (plywood) of my garage roof that Archways project managers agreed to replace. They were rushed and did not replace the plywood. I still have a hole under the new shingles of my garage. While removing the old shingles, the crew bent-up aluminum fascia in about eight places (where the facia meets the shingles) leaving large gaps where rodents or bees can now enter my home. They claim that the bent fascia was preexisting damage and they have hundreds of pictures to prove it. However, they have never produced a single picture. The project manager came back out a few weeks later to fill the gaps in the fascia with caulk. He only filled about half. He refuses to fill the remaining gaps unless we come up with hundreds of dollars in cash to finish filling holes they created. The gutter install was better. However, they said that they would extend a downspout so water from our roof doesnt keep running onto our deck. They have never returned to my home to complete the gutter repairs either. The last contact with Archway. A representative from their company called my cell phone offering to smooth things over by hiring attorneys to defend their position. We simply wanted Archway to finish the project. They have disappeared. I have pictures of the damage to my home as well as emails and text messages confirming everything I have stated above.
