I rented a condo and boat slip through VBRO at Southwood Shores June 22nd-25th. As soon as we got there, we used Southwood Shores boat launch to put boat in the water and then proceeded to park my boat trailer in the 1 of 2 designated boat trailer parking areas along with around 100 other boat trailers. There are multiple "trailer parking" signs, even one that has a big arrow pointing at it. Come Sunday morning checkout. I discovered that my trailer had been towed. I re-read every single sign they had posted AND TOOK PICTURES OF ALL OF THEM and not a single sign mentioned that the trailer parking area is for homeowners only. After spending $500 to get my trailer out of impound and home I made contact with the SWS and asked why my trailer was towed. ****** was the 1st contact. I expressed my outrage and she said that it was the VBRO responsibility to let us know and said there are signs everywhere posting that guests can't park in designated trailer parking area. I assured her that there is not 1 and asked her to send me a picture of it. She could not. My 2nd contact was her boss, Kevin and I demanded a refund. He too stated the same thing. Signs everywhere. He too could not produce a picture of said sign. I then contacted the police and told them this. They said NOTHING THEY COULD DO! How in the world can you get towed out of a trailer designed spot with no sign saying that your trailer isn't included is beyond me!! When speaking with ******, she told me that they are having trailers towed out of there on a regular basis all the time. Which just proves to me that there are running a scam with the tow company just simply because they are getting away with it! As long as they keep getting away with it they will never put up a sign that SHOULD be required by law before they can tow a trailer. I want $500 refunded AND them to be required to post a sign explaining who can park there without being towed. I can produce the pictures upon request too.

In reply to the filed complaint, there is a sign posted at the entrance to our complex that specifically states parking of boat trailers is for homeowners only and any such trailer must have a parking permit attached to it. After this individual’s trailer was spotted without a parking tag a photo was taken and posted to or condominiums website with instructions to move it or risk having it towed. When it was not moved, it was towed according to the complex rules and regulations. We regret that this renter had this experience at our complex, however a tow notice is, again, posted at our entrance.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
Southwood Shores has repeatedly told me that they have signs everywhere stating that their trailer parking is for owners only, but when I asked them to send me just one picture of this said sign he claims is clearly posted, he sent me a picture of JUST the towing sign.  But before I left their property,  I took pictures of every sign on their property.   The picture I took of the sign tells a totally different story than the picture that he sent me!   Keep in mind that they are having multiple trailers towed out of this same "designated trailer parking area"  every month!!  It is clear that they don't care that their posted signs are not at all clear and misleading their "Guests" because like I said before,  they are running a scam with the tow company and getting their cut....meanwhile costing every person they call to have towed $500 just for parking in their "DESIGNATED TRAILER PARKING AREA!"

    Sincerely,
