I contracted St. Louis Insulation around August 2018 to add blown in insulation to my attic. I choose them as they are an approved vendor by a local utility and financing was available. To my knowledge the insulation was installed around that time. Our home is a typical wood frame 1 story home "L shaped" at around 2K sq ft. The part of the home that is the "shorter L" is the primary bedroom. No insulation was installed in this area. We were not aware of this until a few weeks ago when we started a remodel project. During the project we noticed a lack of insulation in the area over the primary bedroom, not matching the depth in the rest of the attic, and we had a different insulation company come to the house to confirm our suspicion. It was confirmed, there was no insulation installed in the area. I contacted St. Louis insulation by phone. They said they were very sorry and would be out next week to take a look and install the missing insulation. They cancelled the day of the appointment and rescheduled for the following week. They cancelled that appointment as well. They then sent an email to create a new appointment for the following week... they cancelled that as well. I have called and emailed asking for them to resolve. I will have to have a different contractor install the missing insulation (as my bedroom is several degrees warmer than the rest of the home in summer and several degrees cooler in winter) and try to recoup this through small claims court.

Our process is to calculate the amount of square feet of space that we can access in any attic and install it to the manufacturer's specifications via blowing hose.

The material is purchased on the customer's behalf and we are reimbursed at install along with the labor charges to install the calculated amount of material in accessible areas.

It is common to have areas in a home that are not connected or accessible and while I am not 100% sure this is the case; I cannot fathom why our installer would just skip an area that is accessible to him particularly when he was blowing insulation adjacent to the space in question.

The process would require him to literally just turn right and blow in that direction.

Please see the attached property sketch and the process image for reference if you are not familiar with it.

The area in question per the customer is roughly
20x16 = 320ft2. Which I would assume is the left rear portion of the image.

I do know though without question that ALL of the materials that we purchased for this project were installed in that house on that day.

We purchase at retail from the closest box store which is Menards on Manchester Rd.

We bought 41 bags of blown in insulation and installed it and charged Mr. **** $800 for labor.

I would compare this with eating most of the steak, in fact he/ they still are.

I am sure a " small claims court" would agree that the claimed damages ( refund) in relation to the project size and scope and is egregious.
