Yesterday we shopped at this store that sells backdated products. We purchased 4 boxes of Special K cereal with red berries and 1 box with almonds dated Oct 24, 2023 and last night after we got home, after the store was closed, I opened a box of cereal and noticed a live bug inside the bag. I took the bag out and noticed numerous live bugs inside the box. I emailed them about this, called them this morning about this and I spoke to the manager. I told her I was willing to send any information about this to her. I asked her to mail the refund check to me and she refused. They said we had to bring the product back to the store and they would refund the money to us. it is over 50 miles away from **. She refused to do send the check by mail or reimburse us. I asked her to take it off the shelves so no one else would have these problems.

I decided to withdraw my complaint with Greene County Freight & Food because after reviewing the circumstances regarding my complaint, I concluded that the manufacturer ( ************** company) was more likely at fault, due to the fact that the bugs I found in the box of Special K red berries cereal, were inside the cereal bag.  I did also find some bugs in the cereal box, but I think that the initial problem that promulgated the bug infestation was with either a failed manufacturing process at ******** that did not successfully kill or prevent insect eggs or larvae from infiltrating the cereal ingredients, or with the packaging, which may have been compromised and which allowed the bugs an avenue for infestation.  I called the ******** company on 9-26-24 and I lodged a complaint with them regarding this situation.  I texted pictures of the cereal boxes, cereal inside the box/bag, the bugs inside the cereal bag/box and information regarding the best by date, UPC code and manufacture information to ******** also.  ******** did confirm that they had received the text.  I also called Greene County Freight & Food on 9-26-24 and spoke with the manager I talked to earlier when I gave her my initial complaint.  I told her that after review, I did not think that the issue with the bugs in the cereal could have been caused by the their business.  I also told her that I would call the Greene County health ***** and let them know what had happened since my first call to them on the morning of 9-26-24.  I then called the Greene County health ***** and basically told them the same thing I have written in this email.  I want to thank the BBB agent I spoke with on 9-26-24 for taking my complaint.
