On 5/23/2024 *** ****** called my mother-in-law, who is 76 years old, and proceeded to sell her a car warranty policy on her 20-year-old vehicle. On that date she authorized a payment from her bank account in the amount of $215. When we found out about the purchase after receiving a bill in the mail for $205.33 we immediately took action to cancel the policy and request a refund in the full amount of $420.33. I have a fax confirmation showing we successfully faxed the cancelation to the company on 7/18/2024. On 10/16/2024 we still have not received the refund for any portion of what was paid, which the agent we canceled with told us it would be refunded in full, so upon calling on 10/16/2024 we were told that the letter was received on 7/18/2024 but that it takes ***** days for the refund to go out. I said that 90 days would be in two days. She then stated it would be ***** business days, which we are at 65 "business" days now. I asked for a manager and ***** got on the line and then told me it would be ***** business days from 7/29/2024 when they "processed" the letter. The date keeps changing and this is preying on the elderly with limited social security income to even be selling something like this. All we want is the refund she is entitled to. I also looked at the online account they created for her, and it shows they attempted to take two more payments from her on 8/5/2024 for $1181 and on 8/17/2024 for $1981.35, but luckily, we had canceled the payment authorization/credit card with the bank. This company is a sham and should be ashamed for preying on the elderly like this. But all they keep saying is try to **** us on why she needs this policy, but she does not. She barely even drives any more.Business response

On 4/29/2024, I signed up for a policy with your company. I put 259 down on a credit card and signed up for a policy that would go for 18 payments of 235 each. After getting off of the phone, I realized that this was a policy that I did not want and called to cancel the policy, no *************** 5 or 10 minutes after signing up for it. Seeing as you have a 30 day grace ******* I would like written confirmation that this policy has been cancelled and that the credit card payment is being refunded. I spoke with ********************* and another agent. Both assured me that the policy was cancelled and that I would be refunded the funds that were charged on my credit card but there was no way for them to give written confirtmation of this which I found to be strange and is why I am writing here. Please respond that my request has been processed: that the policy has been cancelled and that my refund has been processed. Thank you.Business response

I sent in a letter of cancellation in September of 2023. It is now almost March and I have called weekly to get my refund on the warranty. I feel highly taken advantage of when I bought the car and this scam of a company contacted me to add another warranty. I have already contacted an attorney and gathered documents to file an FTC complaint as well as *** complaint. I have been told several times that my check has still not been sent out and will be sent with the next batch. I completed all the necessary steps and its been 5 months now. Theyre supposed to provide the check within ***** days, and it has definitely exceeded that. This company will be hearing from my lawyer in the beginning of March.Business response

I got this auto protection policy from them, but when I needed them about 6 weeks later, they stating that I needed 6 months worth of oil changes and I had to pay for my own tow and that they would reimburse me. I used my car policy tow service getting my a car to a shop. After the shop told me the requirements that I had to fulfill 6 months worth of oil changes from a reputive shop (I only had been with them for 6 weeks, why did they need 6 months)? So I decided to take my car back home and I called their policy back and requested for a tow and the representitive told me to pay for my own tow and they would reimburse me, (I had to use my car policy tow again because I didn't have any tow money. I called the next day on Jan. 10th and requested for my money back, they have been giving me the run around for that. And now they told me that I have to wait for 6 months for my money to be returned (It didn't take them 6 months for them to take it out of my account, I need that money to get me some AAA. I am not only asking for my money back that I paid to them but I am also asking for money for a tow because I had to use my car policy twice when I only should've had to only use it once. I am asking for is $195 for service that I did not receive and the price of a tow that I shouldn't have had to use ($75 for hookup and $2 a mile for 10 miles which is $95 each way). Total that I am asking for is $385. I was caught in the rain with my car because they wouldnt fix my car and they wouldn't tow my car! I would've just kept my car at home if I knew all ofthat, plus I never would've gotten that policy at all!!!Business response

To whom it may concern,
Auto Repair Network apologizes for any inconvenience you have had with your Vehicle Service Contract. We do not approve or deny claims these processes are handled by the administrator of your policy.
Regarding needing maintenance records, these can be requested during the claim processes since we don’t require any physical inspection of the vehicles to eliminate pre-existing conditions that might have started before the purchase of a Vehicle Service Contract. All manufacturers require maintenance to be done at different intervals depending on the vehicle and the mileage to help prolong the life of these parts. These records are requested to verify that no pre-existing issue had started before the purchase of the Vehicle Service Contract.
We apologize for the concerns regarding roadside assistance, but this is not something that Auto Repair Network handles regarding the Vehicle Service Contract. These services are set up with providers that work with the administrator of your policy.
We reviewed the tracking of your paperwork and show that this was mailed to the address on file on 12/3/2023 via ****. Per **** this was delivered on 12/7/2023. We also sent a purchase confirmation on 11/28/2023 to the email address you provided.
Again, Auto Repair Network apologizes for the inconvenience and in good faith to resolve this complaint we have issued a refund in the amount of $385.00. This is being sent via check to the address on file and should be delivered by **** within the next 7 to 10 business days.
Sincerely,
Auto Repair Network
