I reached out to Helena Engines & Performance on June 25, 2024, to put in an engine I had rebuilt into my 1994 ***** Civic. Helena Engines & Performance picked up my car on May 28, 2024, and called me later that day to inform me that the pickup had gone successfully and that I should drop by the following Monday to put a deposit down. ****, the mechanic, had given me an estimated total of $1,500 to $1,600 and verbally gave me a rough estimate that my car should be fixed by the 12th of July. On Monday, July 1, 2024, I stopped by and paid $800 for the deposit and later found that they had charged me a $27.60 service charge without my knowledge. I did not hear any updates regarding the status of my car for those 2 weeks. I called at the end of the day on the 12th to ask if my car was ready and **** informed that it was not and that they discovered more issues and fixed them without my knowledge. The wires had been chewed on and the radiator was cracked. **** said that they fixed those issues and that the car should be ready by the 15th where he should have an updated quote for the cost of service. **** then called the following Monday, the 15th, to inform me that I'll have to pay $1,980 when I pick up the car. He also me that they would have to do work on the brakes and had already ordered the parts for the work. This is a total of $2,780, $1,180 over the original and agreed-upon price. I was not informed nor did I agree to the additional work and was not aware of the work done until it was completed and was being charged for it.

On June 25th, 2024, ******** reached out to have us work on her 1994 ***** Civic. When I talked to her on the phone, she asked if I would be interested in finishing the installation of her engine and making sure it was about to be driven. I gave her an estimated based off of what she wanted me to do which was finishing installing the engine, getting nessecary fluids, and misc parts that she didnt have for the installation of the engine. Once I was able to get the car in the shop to start the work, I noticed other things that needed to be worked on order for the engine to properly be installed and for the car to travel safely down the road. Here are the things that were worked on and needed to be replaced:

Eninge timing belt was off and need adjusted, install spark plug wires, new cap and rotor. cracked radiator, a leak in the break master cylinder, the battery was cracked, wires chewed by a rodent which caused the fan not to run, fuel injectors that were with the engines were not correct, oil pressure and coolant temp sensors were not in the engine at all and heater hoses.

Based on my converstation with ********, it was my understanding that I was to do whatever needed to make sure her car would run and be reliable. I, as the mechanic, feel that all of the above listed items were necessary and needed to be worked on in order for her to have a reliable working car.
