I crashed my car into an elk the night of June 3, 2022. Highway patrol responded and called Summit Towing to remove my car from the scene. The process took no more than one hour from start to finish and it was a typical tow (no special service or tools required). On June 4th, 2022, I went in to Summit Towing to discuss payment and was handed a **** that was excessively large. When I asked about why it was so much, I was met with hostility and a refusal to reason with me.The **** was large due to services not rendered and tools not used, as well as an exaggeration on the service time and milage. These services include unused special equipment (snatch blocks, single line witching as the car was able to drive up the ramps...I personally drove it off the road), labor not provided (road cleanup, moving the car from a hard to reach spot), and hazards (contact with glass and blood)I have since spoke with them twice about the unreasonable charges ad have been denied my request to not pay for these services not given. To resolve this, I would like to see the items I was billed for wrongly removed.

I would like it to to known that I didn't call anyone a liar and wasn't told about payment plans. I was very calm and polite in both my interactions with Summit, as was my brother when he called on my behalf.

Furthermore, the car was not out of line nor in the way, and there was plenty of room for the tow driver to not utilize ****** blocks without disrupting oncoming traffic. Also, there was no glass in the driver's seat when the car was picked up. The windshield was intact. This can all be confirmed by the previously submitted photos.

I would also like to add that the tow driver never offered to help load the elk, and the front desk never offered any payment plan or to take my car anywhere upon completion of payments for free. Additionally, the **** (which almost totals $1000) was offered to be cut down to $500 if I paid within a week. I would like to argue that even $500 is pretty steep without a payment plan being set up.

While I do not have insurance to cover this tow bill, I am willing to pay out of pocket if the **** is made more reasonable, Summit is honest with the incident, and a realistic payment plan is put into effect.

    Thank you,

In response to the latest additions to *************************** complaint we have been nothing but honest and willing to work with him and the payment of his ****. To the extent that in the initial **** we did not include our charges for storage fees, gate fees, admin fees, or cleanup fees.
You can clearly see in the pictures ******* submitted that the windshield is all but intact. There is glass all over the inside of car including on the steering wheel and driver seat. I attached more pictures confirming this.
The vehicle being off of the road makes it a recovery call. It can clearly be seen in ********* submitted photos that the vehicle is off of the road and outside of the white lines. Rollback tow trucks are not off road vehicles. Meaning they must stay on the road when recovering vehicles. This warrants the use of a ****** block in order to pull the vehicle at the correct angle back to the road. This is done to keep the rollback straight and correctly facing with the road, in order to preserve the safety of the driver and others on the road as well as keep the road open.
All of this can be proven with the pictures *************************** and We have provided

Not only is a tow bill costing about $1000 excessive (especially when it is five times the cost of any other tow of this situation from other companies), but the condition of the terrain is not extreme. I will also point out again that after the wreck I drove the car off the road to provide safety to other drivers and myself. The car could have been driven back into a more favorable spot if desired. This was mentioned to the driver at the scene of the accident.

When the car was towed there was no glass on the inside. What happened during and after the tow is not my responsibility.

This business has not been honest or upfront with this situation, and while i am willing to pay a ****, I do not think it is right to overcharge for services not rendered or needed.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt and pay no more than $400, which is double what any other shop would charge. However, I still feel this situation is them taking advantage of me.
