On August 30th of 2024, ****** Huerta of Huerta Concrete agreed to do a 24'x30'x 4" monolithic concrete slab at my home of ********************** for a new metal building. We agreed to $5400 for the entire site prep and concrete and he required half once the slab was framed and the other half upon completion. On September 3rd, 2024, ****** Huerta showed up at the site at around 12 pm with himself and a young man to start the work. He cleaned off some of the bank and scratched around for on the somewhat level graveled lot. He worked on it for a little over an hour and then ran out to get 2x4's to frame out the expected site. He did a small frame around the parameter of the site, and he stated that he would be back soon to finish the footers and remaining frame left to do. I paid him personally with a check from *************** CU, Check #**** to which he cashed shortly after. I've been in contact with him many times with him stating time after time he would be at the site to only hear him via text that something has happened from a tooth ache to not having a baby sitter. He would make up excuses further from weather to other things and not come to the site and finish the slab. He has not made an effort to follow up or contact me about finishing the site, I am having keep texting to see what the schedule is for him to have this completed. Several times he was supposed to be here as we discussed in a text and not show up sending me a picture of another site he was working on instead of mine. Yesterday 10/20/2024 he was supposed to be coming to the site in ******** and I then had to text him to ask if her was coming and he made up an excuse again he couldn't make it and gave me his word he would be here on 10/21/2024 early in the morning. Again, I had to call him to see if he was on his way and yet another excuse about a baby sitter issue. This contractor has not finished anything on the slab, and I would like a refund, and I'll get me another contractor on the job.

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint. And as usual, I had to text him a tell him that I filed a complaint with the BBB and I would be searching for a new contractor. As usual he just offered excuses and I did not trust him to perform my work and requested a refund of my deposit because nothing else was performed on the site. After obtaining another quote with another contractor closer to my home, the work Huerta Concrete aka ****** Huerta had first came out to do grade and installing frame was out of square nearly 2 feet from front to back. The rear wooden frame he set was 32 feet and the front was at 30 feet. The ground was so out of level in the front if I left it as is would have required 11 inches of concrete and the rear 4 inches nearly 18 yards of concrete. My new contractor I hired tore down the framing and squared it up and I spent myself $800 dollars to rent a piece of equipment and additional gravel so that the slab was where it needed to be before the contractor poured the slab.

I contacted my new contractor on Wed. October 23, 2024, he drove that night at 6 pm and gave me a quote to measure and finish my slab. We discussed the price and agreed on a price without a deposit and on October 26th at 10 am he showed up on time to build a frame and footers for the slab. The contractor had it already lined up to do the slab on Monday October 28th at 10 am, he showed up on time without any excuses and poured the slab and left at 7:30 pm that night and I had a new slab. Huerta Concrete couldn't seem to be professional enough to call or even answer the BBB complaint or contact me for a refund.

I notified the rep ****** Huerta of Huerta Concrete that the slab was completed by another company and I would be requiring a refund of my deposit of $2700. I notified him to have the deposit ready by Friday of this week and he said that he couldn't get it by Friday November 1st, 2024 but would have it by Sunday November 3rd, 2024. Not too confident that I will get my deposit back based on his track record of promises to be somewhere or to have the money deposited into my ****** account but we will see on October 3rd, 2024 or I will file a small claims lawsuit on Monday October 4th, 2024.

I'm building a house, and selected Huerta Concrete based on price and availability. He quoted on 6/19 that he could pour slab in 1-2 weeks. I hired him, and first paid $4,380 on 6/22 when they did barely anything (scraped dirt). They then charged another $2,000 payment after footers were dug. None of these payments were described upon quoting, but stated when ****** Huerta showed up. They then have declined to put in gravel, although his quote states subgrade materials included. It's now 8/1/24 and u can't get my job finished, pouring and finishing after they place more form boards. I have been given many many excuses week after week why they can't finish, all while he's completing his other jobs

i have attached the quote, which was emailed to me from Huerta Concrete.  We then discussed the project details.  Once he showed up the first day, only doing minimal work, he asked for 30% of payment.  He said this was covered in his quote, but as you can see his quote does not mention this 30% payment.

I paid him via check, and he has already cashed the check, Check #**** NCSECU  6.22.24  $4,380.  I then had to pay for 3 tons of gravel, as he would not cover the material in what he had quoted, although we had discussed verbally and he stated it was included Idaho Grading-*************************  $        2,078.00  Check #***  7.8.24

****** Huerta returned to spread subgrade material and asked for $2,000 more; i courteously paid him, thinking he was finishing the job the following week. Concrete Slab Down Payment ****** Huerta-Huerta Concrete  $        ******** YES Check #**** NCSECU  7.16.24

I need help getting this job completed; he continues to give excuses why he cannot make it here but can tell me he is finishing other jobs for other customers.

    Better Business Bureau:
The business arrived on Monday 8/5/24 to continue working on the project.  They placed more form boards and vapor barrier. The county inspector passed the pre-slab work, so that we can pour the slab. According to the business owner, they are planning to pour & finish the concrete on Thursday 8/15/24.  This should include the house and  front & back porches.  Per the business owner, they will then saw cut the edges.
