  On June 30, 2022, Better Business Bureau of Central and Northwest NC contacted the business regarding advertisements on their website, https://thehighcountrycannabist.com/, and social media, https://www.instagram.com/thehighcountrycannabist/, stating:

  • We have read on the internet that people who suffer from chronic pain caused by injuries, arthritis, diabetes, cancer, MS, HIV, and other diseases have been turning to CBD hemp as a way to treat their pain without the use of addictive pharmaceutical medications.
  • We have our own farm in the beautiful mountains outside Boone NC growing our organic CBD hemp.
  • We grow our CBD hemp organically and locally to provide you with the freshest and highest quality.
  • ORGANIC - Artisanal high quality CBD
  • Highest Quality CBD products Organically grown in Boone.
  • We have read on the internet that peoplewho suffer from chronic pain caused by injuries, arthritis, diabetes, cancer, MS, HIV, and other diseases have been turning to CBD hemp as a way to treat their pain without the use of addictive pharmaceutical medications. **We make no claims of the healing properties of CBD in accordance with the FDA** **These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.  These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.**

  Basic Principles of the Code requires that advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.

  Asterisks may be used to impart additional information about a word or term which is not in itself inherently deceptive. The asterisk or other reference symbol must not be used as a means of contradicting or substantially changing the meaning of any advertising statement. Information referenced by asterisks must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed.

  Claimed Results requires claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. 

  As of August 5, 2022, BBB has not received a response from the business. The business has failed to substantiate, modify, or discontinue any of the advertised claims brought to its attention.
