Mr. Malcolm D******, salesman, pushed my 84 year old husband into getting solar panels for our residence and therefore be in debt for the rest of our lives. Although Mr. D****** promised, a few times, he was going to take care of all permits and approvals, he didn't secure the approval from **** Energy and as a result the panels are rendered useless. We are requesting that panels be removed from our property as soon as possible and any contract with Carolina Connections/ Palmetto be voided.

I have reviewed the complaint from ***** ******** and I am aware of his concerns as I have tried to resolve the issues in several ways. Palmetto Solar has also made attempts to help him as well. As of August 4th, 2022, Mr. ******** came to my office threatening me. He said that he would sue if we could not prove to him that his solar system was producing. HE was also very mad that he had recently had to pay a utility bill that did not show that his system was producing. I helped ***** to get onto his laptop that be brought, i assisted him in setting up a login to the Palmetto App that allows homeowners to see daily solar production. I showed him how to navigate the site to see what the weather was on a particular day and to see how much his panels were producing, proving that his system was working. He then called his wife and got his **** Energy login so that he could show me the utility bill that he just paid, in which this bill was covering a time period of before his system was turned on. I explained to him that because of his billing cycle, he is not yet showing his solar production on his **** Energy bill but would on his next bill (except for 6 days). I told him that if he would like to bring me a copy of that bill, I would be glad to show him but he needed to understand 6 of those days, he was not at that point turned on. I have taken each of his concerns to our install company partner Palmetto Solar and they have also assisted in explaining how the solar process works and have also helped to ease his concerns.

Malcolm D****** did not 'push' this couple into this sale. I know this because I personally helped them before the sale to get their Utility Bill and Homeowners insurance documents address fixed. I had several conversations with them through the solar process before the install. I am also attaching a Closing Disclosure that is reviewed with the customer at the sale and then my job is to receive this document and call the customer to review this document 1 more time. I then keep the document in a confidential system with notes. I talked to this customer on 3/31/2022 to review the CD and noted the following "DISCLOSURE uploaded - been talking with him alot assisting with Docs   comment ***** ***** 3/31/22 3:40 pm". I have also attached the copy to this email. It is also not Mr. D******'s job to secure the permits personally, it is his job to assure this gets completed through our partner company. This was completed and his system was turned on once **** Energy provided the Permission to Operate to Palmetto.

I feel that Carolina Connections has tried to make sure that the ********'s are well informed, questions answered and assistance provided as they have requested. Please let me know if you have any further questions in this matter.

    Thank you,

    Stacy D***

I am rejecting this response because:

No, we are not satisfied with Carolina Connections reply.   For one thing, Mr. Malcolm D******* did push us into signing papers and committing to establish business with them.  When we brought up the subject that we really didn't see any savings with the acquisition of solar panels, he responded that by not agreeing  we were allowing **** Energy to own us.  He also asked why we didn't rent a place instead of owning it, we said we preferred to own and he said that it was the same with the solar panels.  One day he showed up in our house unannounced to get some papers sign.  We told him it was not a good time as we had company, he didn't take the hint and just sat in our kitchen making phone calls.  He stated that he'd leave once we have signed.   If they choose not to call that pushing and coercing I don't know what is.

I will testify to this in a court of law, if necessary.

As far as the system working, we initiated (grudgingly) negotiations with them in March, this is August and we still have to see our **** Energy bill reduced, which only means that in spite of the fact, they pretend to work with us,  the system isn't working.

Thank you for your time Melissa.  Please feel free to relay this to Carolina Connections, if you deem it appropriate.

    Best regards,
