Hired for a full roof replacement in the ************** was the worst decision I could have made. Since the installation in May, there have been multiple spots where the roof is sagging, and it only took Hurricane ****** to reveal the full extent of their sloppy work, with leaks making their way inside my home. After consulting with both a different contractor and my insurance company, I was informed that the leaksand the subsequent damage to my drywallwere due to Weatherguards poor installation. Now Im facing structural repairs for the wall and possibly flooring, mold remediation, and a new wave of costs because my bathroom has tested positive for mold, all due to their incompetence. Weatherguard initially admitted fault and claimed this was urgent, promising immediate repairs. This was September 27th,24. Iinstead of addressing the real issues, weeks passed, and they finally sent someone out just to paint over the damage November 11th, 2024. This person, who barely spoke English, didnt understand that paint would not solve structural damage. After hours of explaining, I got nowhere.Ive tried reaching out to the person in charge of my file, ****** via email. With no response. Multiple attempts at contacting *****, but he has ignored my calls and emails completely. Since May 2024, *** been waiting for exterior repairs as well. During this time, my deck has been exposed to the weather, with the paint peeling, wood splitting, and areas now rotting. When I told Weatherguard about this, they ignored the obvious need for actual repairs and only offered to paint over the deteriorated wood.6.5 months later, my homes exterior remains untouched, the roof repairs are subpar, and the mold problem is another costly issue for me to handle.Weatherguards refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes and ****** complete lack of professionalism are an absolute disgrace. They need to pay for repairs of the deck and the interior structural repairs, & mold remediation.Business response

Weatherguard reached out to the customer on multiple occasions with no response. We receive a response last evening, and are working with the customer to come up with a resolution, as several of the items mentioned in the complaint, such as a mold report, were not shared with Weatherguard prior to the complaint. pCustomer response

I am rejecting this response because:I am writing to address the ongoing matter and reiterate that a mold report is not required to validate the promised repairs. The specific issuesrepairing the water-damaged wall and addressing the deteriorating deckwere clearly outlined in prior communications. As per their email on Nov 11th, 2024: "Hi ******,I hope this email finds you well. I was reviewing your file and see that interior repair work is scheduled for today."
Interior repair does not mean simply painting over drywall that has been water-damaged for months, nor does it mean waiting six weeks for the wall to dry as an excuse to avoid properly addressing the damage. Proper repair involves fully addressing the water-soaked wall, including the affected baseboard and flooring. As previously discussed and agreed upon the wall needs to be repaired. A repair encompasses a range of tasks such as fixing or restoring elements inside a structure, not just painting- which involves:
- Fixing damaged walls (e.g., patching holes, repairing water-damaged **************
- Restoring or replacing flooring, trim, or ****************
- Repairing ceilings (e.g., addressing cracks or water *************
- Fixing fixtures such as cabinets, doors, or *************
The water-damaged wall has been leaking since April due to improper roof installation, and the deck was left to deteriorate for 6.5 months. According to the email and or text correspondence, these repairs were committed to, and I anticipated they would be completed as agreed.
To date, I have personally covered the cost of completely rebuilding the deck and am now seeking reimbursement for those expenses. For the wall repair, I expect the work to be completed as promised. Alternatively, if I must address the repairs independently as I did with the deck, I will proceed and provide invoices for reimbursement.
What I am seeking is a resolution through actionable steps and fulfillment of the original commitments. Unfortunately, since the beginning of this process, there has been a consistent lack of progress, with incomplete or substandard work from Weatherguard.
I look forward to your prompt response and resolution.

Weatherguard has complied with the customer's wishes that the matter be resolved through our respective attorneys. This process is currently underway, as the attorneys have been communicating with each other.Customer response
10/04/2024
I am rejecting this response because:
Although it is true that I had no other choice but to hire counsel, the communications and negotiations are non existent. The only communication we have received was a threat to sue me for defamation. As of the last storm the rain continues to drip from the ceiling proving that their most recent repairs have also not worked. Troubleshooter ***** ****** is getting all applicable documents from me on Monday to prepare for a news report. Weatherguard has offered nothing outside of their original offer and waiver to get rid of me.Business response
10/04/2024
The fact that there has been communication between the respective attorneys is irrefutable, and can be proven by letters, emails, and phone calls between them. Again, this is per the wishes of the customer.Customer response
10/04/2024
I am rejecting this response because:
The response further confirms Weatherguards unprofessional approach to the whole matter. The majority of any discussion between attorneys or me was suing me for defamation. NO discussions are taking place regarding the continued roof leak and now mold that continues to cause a mess at my home. Their responses are exactly why I got an attorney involved.Business response
10/04/2024
Weatherguard stands by the previous responses, and will continue to allow our attorney to communicate with the customers attorney. The comments from the customer are misleading and inaccurate.Initial Complaint

This complaint pertains to Weatherguard LLCs refusal to reimburse $858.00 (invoice #******* included as attachment) paid by me to fix a leak in my roof on 20th August 2024. The leak was repaired by Ark Roofing *** an independent roofing contractor, who also confirmed that the cause of the leak was incorrectly installed plumbing flashing (pictures included as attachments) when the roof was installed by Weatherguard LLC on 01 July 2019. The contract with Weatherguard LLC (included as an attachment) clearly indicates 5-year craftmanship warranty (2nd paragraph above signatures) with no language on any restrictions as to who performs the repairs. In my conversations with Weatherguard, they refused reimbursement because it was done by an independent contractor. However, the contract has no mention of any restriction related to hiring independent contractors. Weatherguard also claims that the leak was reported to them a few days outside of 5-year warranty period. However, based on assessment of Ark Roofing ** (independent contractor) and supporting pictures provided as attachments, the leak was due to defective installation of plumbing flashing when the roof was replaced in 2019. Pictures, especially that of rotted roof, supports leak over time immediately after installation.Business response

The homeowner called Weatherguard after the labor warranty had expired, as outlined in the complaint. Despite it being out of warranty, Weatherguard offered to perform an inspection and any necessary repair work as a courtesy. While waiting for the homeowner to schedule a date for the inspection and repairs, the homeowner hired another contractor to do the work, and sent an invoice to Weatherguard. Weatherguard feels that we acted in good faith to assist the homeowner, going as far as offering to perform an inspection and repairs when the roof was, again, out of warranty.Customer response
09/16/2024
I am rejecting this response because:- *** style="color: black;">1. The signed contract (file Contract - Warranty.jpg), included as an attachment provides 5-year craftmanship warranty. It does not forbid me from going to an independent contractor.
- *** style="color: black;">2. Pictures provided by independent contractor clearly confirm 2 things. First, the leak is due to 'incorrectly installed' plumbing flashing when Weatherguard replaced roof in 2019. Second, the picture of rotted wood confirms that the roof was leaking well within the warranty period - immediately after faulty *************************
- *** style="color: black;">3. Weatherguard offered to "inspect" the roof and not "fix" ***************
Based on point 1 above, there is no restriction on me to go to an independent contractor. Based on point 2 above, the leak was well within the warranty period.
Best regards,
*****

Weatherguard did the roof of my neighbor, attached home, and killed a significant number of my plants and herbs because they used my water and then turned off my watering system. They left a mess all over my flowers and killed them. I had to ask them to clear their mess, they used my trashcan, not the huge dumpster they had, clocked my driveway all day and my mailbox. I had to tell them to clean up before they left, come and try to uncover my flowers from construction debris. I tried to call them several times, sent emails. This all happened the week of 6-17-24Business response

I went with weather guard to install a new roof. The job took two days to do. The end of day one the roofers did not cover the roof and a major storm came thru. The storm did extensive damage to my whole first floor. It's been a week and a storm came through and my roof is still leaking. Not to mention the roofer broke a window and did not even notify me. I lost alot of electrical equipment because the room that flooded was my online studio. I am asking for the head of the company to contact me. The better business bureau will be my next stop to get help. Ohh and SERVPRO tried to bully me into doing business with them. They stockpiled 30 fans in my garage without permission. And TOLD me they will start the repairs.( pic incl) no one tells me what to do with my house ever.I have submitted an estimate. Weatherguard refused to send oayment of estimate in attempts to control the repairs that their company has caused. I expect payment for the invoice and they can assign a proxy.Business response

THIS IS NOT A DUPliCATE COMPLAINT; THIS IS A NEW COMPLAINT FROM AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED ON 7/10/2024 ( PLEASE SEE ATTACHED). Weatherguard promised to reduce the cost of the installation because of the substantial damage done to my home. Then *************************** sent a contract for me to sign, which would absolve Weatherguard of their responsibility. ****************** said if I don't sign it, they will not honor what was verbally agreed upon.Business response

Hired this company to replace my homes roof. After the job was completed, there were several issues with the installation. The major problems include a newly introduced leak inside the home due to the vinyl siding being cut into in order for a makeshift piece of flashing to be installed. This leak caused my plaster walls to become damaged. To fix this issue, a repair crew came out and did a temp fix in which black sealant was applied on my gray vinyl siding. I was told a siding guy would have to come fix it. Several areas of the newly installed drip edge is damaged. J-Channel trim was removed during installation and never put back on in one spot on the rear of the house. I have attempted to remedy these issues for months now and the company is not taken responsibility for the damage or missing J-channel even though I provided photos and text messages during the process.Business response

************ only contacted me to fix one minor problem. The other issues they will not take responsibility for and said they will not fix. Then on top of all this, they threatened to put a lean on my house and cancel warranties even though I was only sent an invoice once and talked to the company about getting the items fixed before the final payment was made. I paid them with in hours of this threat and since I made that final payment I have not heard from them!Business response

This business advertised itself as a general contractor that can restore the damage that had happened from a recent hail storm. I signed the contract stating that WeatherGuard would restore my roof, vents, flashing, gutters, and paint. In addition, I added Upgrades to the contract to include upgraded shingles as well as gutter guards. Provisions of the contract state that no payment is due until the job is complete. However, there were several management issues that WeatherGuard eventually addressed by refunding me damages for the issues with the paint job. Now WeatherGuard doesn't want to finished the remaining contractual items. I hired another roofing company to identify what else needs to be done and there were quality issues that was observed as well as additional work that needs to be done because WeatherGuard didn't do them while installing the shingles. WeatherGuard inspected the quality issues but did not remedy them. Now they are demanding payment that overcharges me ~$1200 more than the work that was done and does not reimburse me for damages for quality issues as well as extra work that needs to be done before we can go about finishing the project. When pressed on why they didn't do the items that were not addressed they claimed that they have since changed their business model and don't perform work outside of roofing. So no gutters, flashing, vents, HVAC will be done. This doesn't make sense to me because as a roofer, you need to install flashing and gutters as they sit below the shingles.Business response

Weatherguard has tried working with the homeowner on several occasions and has been met with conflicting responses and information at each encounter. The homeowner engaged an attorney very early in the process despite the fact that Weatherguard was actively working to resolve an issue that arose from miscommunication between the homeowner and the painter. (The homeowner gave the wrong color to the painter.) Weatherguard has not changed our business model, and has not overcharged the homeowner. An inspection by Weatherguard was canceled by the homeowner as they stated they would be getting their roof replaced anyway because it was damaged by a tree since the last roof was replaced. The homeowner engaged an attorney again after stating that they were ready to pay and close out the project. Weatherguard is agreeable to another inspection and repairing any outstanding issues, but wants to be clear that the homeowner stood in the way of this happing.
Customer response
05/17/2024
I am rejecting this response because:
Although it is true that I have retained an attorney, I only did so after repeated failures on Weatherguard's part on providing me an itemized bill that justified their invoice. As you can see in my precious attachment; their invoice recognizes that Weatherguard is failing or is unwilling to perform the work that they are under contract for. Their excuse for breaching the contract is to the tune that their business model has changed as they only replace roofs and no longer perform the other actions highlight as 'not doing' on their invoice. The quality issues were identified and presented to WG. They did, in fact, perform an inspection and saw the extent of the quality issues. They are correct that I initially told them to hold off to see if my insurance company would fix their mistakes due to a tree falling on my house. They did to some extent and I sent Weatherguard an estimate for the portion of the defective items that will not be fixed by insurance. At no point was Weatherguard prohibited on fixing their issues and I encourage them to present anything proving the contrary.Business response

I have attached the overall main issue below in great detail. We have had nothing but problems since day 1 with this company and this is the 3rd time we have used them. We have never had any issues like we did this time around. They continue to send us a final bill, but it is not itemized which I have asked for multiple times. My husband reached out to *********************** on Friday April 5th. ***** was very unprofessional on the phone. He said he should not have answered the call because it was Friday and he should have been off anyway. My husband was needing a few questions answered about things were are being billed for that were not completed. He took pictures of the fireplace as well. The initial insurance claim had things on it that the contractors did not repair when they replaced our roof. ***** said that if it was on the initial claim and we did not have to pay anything out of pocket, then it should not matter. That is not correct! I continue to tell them that we will not pay for things that were not completed. They either need to come out and fix everything that is on that claim, or deduct it from our final bill. They are also charging us for the permit which was never discussed until we received the final bill. We had no idea that would be charged to us to pay out of our own pocket. ***** basically told my husband he would get back to him, and hung the phone up without my husband agreeing to end the call. My husband tried calling him again last week on Thursday April 11th. He left a voicemail for ***** to call him back. ***** called him back, but my husband unfortunately could not answer because he was busy at work. ***** did not leave him a voicemail, so we again are left hanging in the air. As of now, we should not be paying $222.22 fort he permit, nor $518.87 for the fireplace repairs that were not completed. We should owe them $18,564.23, but their final invoice is showing $19,305.32, which is not correct.Business response

We signed a contract with Weatherguard to replace our roof in the summer of 2023. We continually had to follow up with them to find out why we weren't being scheduled. After a couple of months of no word and us following up with them, they then told us we had to pick new shingles as they couldn't get the originally selected ones. Again months go by with no contact from them and I would call and ask for status. I was told it's a supply chain issue and they couldn't get shingles but they assured me they would call us and keep us posted. More time passed, no contact. Finally in December, I called and left a message asking for a return call as we wanted to go with another provider. No return call. Next thing you know a few days later we have a guy knocking on our door wanting to place a dumpster in our driveway because we are suddenly scheduled to have our roof done. We had to turn him away because Weatherguard missed the fact that they are responsible for removing our solar panels first. Had they called, we would have reminded them about the solar. Our roof got replaced. No communication whatsoever about getting it inspected. More months go by and they send me an email out of the blue stating they are done and sending the completion notice to insurance. I told them no, the job is not done as we haven't had it inspected and the solar still needs to be put back on. I was told they'd have the local guy call. Of course, no call. I had to follow up with them and advise, still no call. Finally the local guy calls and has set up the inspection. Our roof failed inspection. The only reason I know this is because I asked the inspector directly. No one from Weatherguard has bothered to call us and inform us. In fact, they called and asked for payment. I once again had to inform them that the job is not done. Then I get an invoice in the mail stating the job has completed and to pay them. So here I sit with an roof that didn't pass inspection, and no solar.Business response
