    My widowed elderly mother contacted Cabarrus Roofing via telephone, she requested someone look at her roof due to recent storm damage. She was told they would be happy to provide her with a free estimate, so she schedule an appointment at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, 5/14/24. They were approximately 2 hrs late for the appointment after us making 2 phone calls to them. After they finally arrived to the appointment to give an free estimate on the roof and after they inspected the roof damage my mother was told that they couldnt give her a true estimate because they were not sure what would need to be done. They didnt even give her a ball park estimate or anything. The storm damaged area was where some of the shingles lifted due to a recent wind storm which occurred the week prior. it was an area approximately 3 ft by 3 ft. On the front left corner of house. They told her that they could do the work on Thursday. She still did not know a price for the job. On Thursday they showed up and did the a repair with a black shingle not a gray shingle like she has on her roof. The work was done on the front left corner so it is very noticeable . After it was finished they handed my mom and invoice in the amount of $1,475.00 which was absurd! It should have been a minimal roofing charge of $200 to $300 price or being very generous a $500 charge. On the invoice he listed other items which outside the scope of storm damage which were performed without my mothers prior authorization or approval The other unauthorized repairs performed were sealing around roof vents, seal fireplace, vent and coat rust preventer on roof vents which were maintenance type work and all outside the scope of the requested storm damage repair. They were only asked to repair the shingles on the corner from storm damage! He also indicated he had to replace some rotten plywood which I find it hard to believe that was necessary due to it was only a week from the when the storm damage occurred and the fact there was no leaking on the inside. You would think that if there was a need for plywood replacement there would be water stains on the inside ceiling which there were none. I think he did additional unnecessary things to **** up the bill to $1475 to take advantage of a widowed elderly woman. The contractor requested that she make the check out to the individual contractor and no the Cabarrus Roofing. He was driving a Cabarrus Roofing vehicle. It puzzles us why she couldnt make it payable to Cabarrus Roofing.Nonetheless, WE ARE NOT HAPPY AND FURIOUS HOW MY ELDERLY MOTHER WAS DONE!!

    After confronting Cabarrus Roofing, LLC at their office on 5/17/2024 the issues were resolved timely with a refund in hand.  Customer is now satisfied with what she was charged for services rendered.

    We had a full roof replacement on 7-18-2017 with a full 8 year guarantee. Starting about 2 years after the roof was replaced we started having leaks on one end of the roof on the over hang and the water would accumulate and the facia board would have mold and then fall out. This happened two other times in or near the same area and each time Cabarrus Roofing would come out and replace the damaged area but didn't correct the underlining problem. Now we have mold and water coming thru the ceiling in our master bedroom, as well as the areas outside on the overhang that had been replaced three other times. I feel we have been patient and fair in working with Cabarrus Roofing. Many times like today they have told us a time when they would come to even look at the problem and not show up or call. Now we have moved out of the master bedroom because of the moisture and mold. I would like to work with together with the company to resolved this but the underlining issue with the roof needs to be addressed, not just patch the current hole.

    The home owner claims he has had an ongoing leak but has not reached out until last week. We sent someone to check the alleged leak and noticed a backed up nail. This issue is due to an air conditioner the home owner had installed by another company. The homeowner failed to have a certified contractor to oversee the installation. Lastly, the homeowner verbally and physically assaulted the employee we sent. The homeowner yelled profanity and slammed a gate into the employee. The employee is still debating on filing charges against the homeowner. 

     

    We do not think any further action needs to be taken for the roof. We have reached out to fix the issue several times since the first phone call a week ago. We no longer feel safe sending another employee to the residence. I cannot subject any employees to be assualted.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    The business has clearly decided not to deal with the ongoing problems with the roof they installed.  They had been out several other times to fix the facia that was leaking and had water damage to the point where they just fell off.  In none of the previous repairs had the roofing business owner told us that the issue was with the air conditioning that was installed by ***** Heating & Air Conditioning License #***** in 2018.  The leak has never been properly dealt with and has now resulted in the roof leaking into our bedroom (see photos).  I had called the office on April 24th and had asked the receptionist to have the owner ***************** call me to let me know how he was going to proceed with correcting a now bigger issue with the roof.  On April 25th a roofer shows up with no call or appointment with instructions to only do what they had done the prior 3 times they had been out and once again not address the bigger problem. I told the roofer that I needed to speak to **** and asked him to leave.  The bottom line is we has had an ongoing roofing leak which has now turned into a bigger problem.  We have a guarantee and the roof needs to be FIXED!!!  We are willing to work with the owner and I would be happy to work with a mediator to resolve this issue and have my wife ********************* ************ be involved with any further communications.

    We will resolve te issue, as long as **************** is not present, due to his threatening manner. There are many inconsistencies with his complaints, but we are willing to continue to attempt to resolve the issue. The employee that was assaulted by **************** has been asked to not press charges against ****************, but that is at the employee's discretion. The owner will be in contact with his wife to set up an appointment.
