It is refreshing to work with a stand-up company who goes the extra mile to ensure a quality installation. ***** and his crew at Triad Leisure Scapes are THE BEST!!!! Several years ago, ***** was recommended to me by multiple people in my neighborhood when I wanted to build a new patio and gas fire pit. ****** craftsmanship and attention to detail is amazing! Everyone that sees the completed project loves what they did. Several friends have hired ***** to build a similar project for them. Since the initial project, Ive hired ***** multiple times to replace old landscaping, install a French drain (which solved a 10 year drainage issue) and install new landscape lighting. ***** is always responsive and fair with his pricing. I highly recommend Triad Leisure Scapes!

I used ************************* for my fence build and it was a disaster! What should have taken 3 days at the most (60 linear feet) ran into 8 working days, using boards that still had rot on them, and costs that were double what I had anticipated spending on the project. ***** did admit after the project was complete that he did not know how to build a fence, but he wanted to get my additional bigger landscape project and I had expressed wanting one contractor to do all of the work.I was uncharacteristically trusting and did not require a contract which I will never do again. After careful inspection of the work and having some qualified fence contractors take a look at it, I know with certainty that ***** kept his business afloat through billing me while he did not have any jobs lined up. I requested he refund part of my money which he refused to do (I paid him in full because he told me he needed it to pay his workers). He did not address the poor quality fence construction or the extended period it took to "restore" the fence, and resorted to personal attacks and name calling when I told him I did not want him to repair the fence, but wanted a refund. I gave him an opportunity to take some responsibility for the poor workmanship but he refused; I had no interest in him continuing work on my fence because he didn't do it right the first time and his errors in construction was so egregious the consensus was it would be cheaper to tear it out and start over.My objective in filing this review is to prevent someone else from making the same mistakes I made: no contract, only neighbor/friend references and fully placing trust in a contractor I believed was ethical and honest.I am going to have the fence torn out and replaced by a qualified fence builder who should charge less money, use better materials, and provide quality construction. I am out $5,564.00 that I paid to Triad Leisure Scapes again for 60' of dog-earred fence.

First off, we have been working in this neighborhood since 2006 for satisfied and appreciative customers. Also, we were recommended by the Neighborhood *** president to do your job and we are continuing to work in the neighborhood. When we first met, we discussed the landscape/hardscape plan you had for your backyard. We were interested in working with you on that project, but you wanted a fence issue addressed first. I told you that we were not professional fence builders, but that we have built fences and could help you with your fence restoration, if that was what you wanted. You said you wanted the same company to handle the fence and backyard project. Before we started your project we gave you an estimated cost of $3,500 for the work, that we could assess before the fence was disassembled, and you agreed for us to start the job. That was for a fence restoration ONLY, not doing the staining. You had not picked the fence stain at that time and we took into consideration that you would be doing a majority of the staining work yourself, to save money. Our original agreement was that we would do a restoration of the old fence by pressure washing the old boards. You wanted to save as many boards as possible, on the fence and fence structure, clean them before stain was applied and replace the boards that needed replacing. This was what we tried to follow through the process, because your goal was to try to save money! You also wanted to do as much of the staining yourself and that is why we made a special trip, on a Sunday, to purchase, pick up and deliver 100 fence boards and saw horses to your patio so that you could start the staining process before our work began the following day.Once we began work on disassembling and cleaning the fence, it became clear that a lot of the boards and supports were in worse shape than we had hoped and required replacement. If it was structurally sound, we tried to keep the boards or posts. If it had rot, we tried to cut that part off and salvage the boards, if possible. If the damage was too great, we recommended replacement. I let you know about the issues we encountered and you agreed to replace those additional boards and keep the ones that could still be used. There was one post that was slightly bowed but structurally sound, so we did not remove that and built back the fence around it. You saw it during the process and did not mention any issue with it until after the entire project was finished! We were also left to do the majority of the staining of the fence ourselves. You only worked on it that one day, expressed concern about the heat and that the work aggravated your carpal tunnel. You also picked ***** as the stain and it took approx. 8 gallons and 3 coats on all sides to give it the coverage required. We specifically talked to the *************************** representative from the store where we bought the stain and they recommended that we not roll the stain but use a paint brush and brush it in to ensure the best stain penetration. This was extremely labor intensive! When it became apparent that you did not have the time to do the staining, we continued the process by taking the fence boards back to our shop, where it was dry, for the staining and drying. We were trying to be as efficient as possible and we were also dealing with rainy conditions. Each coat would have to dry on each side as they got additional coats of stain and we even set up a special drying area with fans that ran all night.During the project, you kept changing the expectations and directions. We tried to follow and do what you wanted done and how you wanted it done, but you ended up not liking it or it took too much time and cost too much. You felt it was all our fault and we should have told you to do it differently.I kept you updated throughout the entire process with texts and photos. We showed up to work everyday, even in bad weather, and either worked in the rain or took materials to our shop to keep working. You even ripped down a portion of the fence that had been power washed and was ready for stain, because you said it was dirty. We had to rebuild it and that added more time and materials! Up until the last day that we worked on the project, we tried to fix, change or adjust items that you were not happy with. We also told you that we had gotten the wood fence boards as close together, in the pattern/design you wanted, but I did let you know that as the boards dried out in the sun, the boards would shrink and not be as close together as they currently were, with no gaps. This is how a wood fence works! We tried to do everything we could to meet your expectations. I also spent an additional day, 8 hours, reworking the fence door, replacing the lock mechanism and reapplying stain to any areas where the stain had absorbed into the wood and needed some extra stain. I also purchased an additional gallon of stain and was not reimbursed. All of this was done at *********! On that day, my last day, you didnt mention any additional issues that you wanted addressed. Then, almost two weeks later you started continuously contacting me about spaces between the boards and additional complaints about some fence toppers not being able to be used. I had previously explained how wood fence boards would have some shrinkage and fence toppers had not been mentioned and neither was any example given to me to adjust the work to accommodate them. I met with you and was willing to address any structural issues or adjustments, but you were unwilling to work with me and only wanted a refund. Now you are saying that your only recourse is to tear down the fence! The fence is sound . . . It may not have turned out exactly like you were thinking, but we followed what you said you wanted! We have receipts, time logs and pictures of our work and stand behind it!The heart of the matter is that you have threatened to hurt our company, our reputation and demanded a $3,500 refund, not because of a poor job on our part, but because you now have issues with your ***. You told us that you had gotten full approval on the construction and color of the fence and now the *** is telling you that you have to make the outside fence color similar to everyone else in the neighborhood and that is going to cost you a lot more money! All we can say at this point is Contractors, beware of this Customer!!!
