DO NOT HIRE-My mistake was hiring this company. I hired in October 2022-they started on March 6th 2023 and we were told 2 months and it would be done for a kitchen remodel. We are 5 months from that date and still they are holding occupancy over our heads with we have to pass final inspections. Yet, they refuse to find or hire ample people to come and complete our job. I have buried my father and had back surgery all in the time it has taken them to half finish painting, and little odds and ends. In addition to this hold up are the numerous shady subs they have hired for jobs we continue to fail inspections for such as HVAC, ELECTRIC- We have resisted with our city and have proof that we have not fully passed across the board-yet they continue to proclaim otherwise. Parts they have known about for months they just ordered yesterday. It is a continuous ball of lies to get an answer on completion date-worse thing is we have mostly paid for the kitchen for well over 6week and we are told that we can't use it. Save your self and DO NOT HIRE THEMKC's Improvement & Construction Company, Inc. Response

Dear *********, We appreciate and value your feedback. We feel it is important to clarify certain inaccuracies in your review and provide a more accurate representation of the situation regarding your kitchen remodel project. First and foremost, we apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced during your project. We take every customer concern seriously and strive to improve our services based on valuable feedback. However, we believe it is necessary to address the inaccuracies and statements in your review: 1. **Timeline**: The 2-month turnaround was based on the initial concept originally discussed of just the Kitchen remodel as is documented in previous communication. Since that point, the project grew markedly from 270sf of space to touching 590sf of space to include a side porch conversion to a new pantry and separate laundry room and 4 major structural modifications. Although we agree that there have been delays, the turnaround time that you stated was promised was taken out of context. Delays can and do happen in the construction industry due to unforeseen circumstances and the overall state of the construction industry as a whole. We acknowledge that your project is taking longer than expected, and we deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused. We continue to make every effort to expedite the work while ensuring quality standards are met. 2. **Subcontractors**: We work with subcontractors to provide specialized services, and we take responsibility for the quality of their work. As we have and will continue to do, we are committed to addressing them and ensuring the work meets your satisfaction. 3. **Employee Turnover**: We acknowledge that there were staffing changes during your project and apologize for the issues that this has caused. While this is challenging, it does not reflect our usual practice and is reflective of the labor shortage due to the gap in skilled workers. Many experienced tradespeople, from laborers to management, are reaching retirement age, and there hasn't been a sufficient influx of younger workers to replace them. This has resulted in a significant shortage of skilled construction managers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, welders, and other specialized trades. We are actively working to improve the stability of our team to prevent such disruptions in the future. 4. **Communication**: We apologize if you felt uninformed about the project's progress, especially during important personal events. It has been our goal since day one to provide you with regular and clear communication. Clear communication is essential, and we take full responsibility for any lapses that you feel may have occurred. We want to emphasize that we do not refuse to take responsibility for the project's delays and issues. We take full responsibility for the overall management of your project, including the selection and oversight of subcontractors. We understand that our customers rely on us to deliver a seamless and efficient remodeling experience and I apologize that we may have fallen short in delivering this. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us identify areas for improvement. We value our customer's satisfaction and are dedicated to addressing these concerns to ensure a better experience for future clients. We understand your frustration and disappointment, and we are committed to resolving this matter to your satisfaction. We are actively working and nearing the end of your project and hope that you will reconsider your review in the future.Review from R. W.

Beware. This company can make a great pitch and talks a good talk but they fail on execution. We have been struggling with them to complete an attic remodel project that had an estimated completion date of July 17, 2022 and now it is November 2022 and they are no where near completion. There have been no material or weather delays. Only delays in finding sub contractors to do the actual work.KC's Improvement & Construction Company, Inc. Response

Mr. *****, thank you for taking the time to review us on the BBB website. I sincerely apologize for the circumstances that we have experienced on your project yet please acknowledge that we are in constant communication with you regarding schedule and can only provide you with the information that we receive from our trade contractors. When we get notice that a trade is unable to adhere to the schedule, we immediately notify you along with a tentative schedule date for the trades to resume. Your communication with our plumber created an approximately 4 week delay due to changing the plan waiting on a new tub, without our knowledge until after the fact, even though our contract states that communication and changes to the scope of work must go through KC's therefore there have been delays by both parties. Most everyone in this industry is short staffed creating delays in schedules, which you acknowledged at the beginning of the project, and affecting relationships between the Client and the GC. We are within days of completion so I have to disagree with your statement that we are nowhere near completion. We are pushing forward to complete your project this week, yet please keep in mind that you are doing the finish work yourself so we will not be able to get final inspections until you are complete with your work. Thank you and we are looking forward to turning your new space over to you to enjoy for years to come.Customer Response

Mr. ********, Our complaint as you know, is about the stairway being left unfinished. This tub delay, and the many that have followed, would have been a perfect time to repair the staircase and pass the framing inspection. A left hand tub was on site and ready for installation, per your design, when your plumber arrived. Your plumber required a right-hand tub, we assumed you were aware of this, since you are managing the project. We returned the left-hand tub and ordered a right-hand tub. The plumber then began the installation of the right-hand drain pipe and the other plumbing We returned the tub only because your plumber asked us to. We had to lug the bathtubs both ways, not a fun job, as we did not wish another delay. Which is why we procured so many items ahead of time. We are again asking KCS Improvement to rebuild the staircase as contracted per their design. The staircase was included in framing, which we have already paid in full. Let’s build the staircase and pass framing inspection.Review from Karen C.
