This is more about GMC overall, but this location did not divulge information until I brought up the issues. We have a 2014 GMC Terrain, and the ongoing oil consumption issues happened to us. We always get the scheduled oil changes. Car was lagging, but no sensors were on.Took it in and GM said it needed new piston rings, pistons, there was no oil due to leak and the engine burning it. Called for update, they said they had already taken the engine apart without even telling us. This obviously shows they more than likely already knew the issue.Told the fix would be over $5000. I brought up the class action lawsuit which they said the special warranty was only for 2010-2013 models. I then brought up the issues being the same as the 2010-2013 models, and how ******** and ********** have current class action lawsuits for the 2014-2017 models.GM said they dont have nearly as many 2014-2017 models coming in for the issue. I told him that after having to pay over $100 million in a class action lawsuit, youd think that number would be zero needing to come in. I asked if GM was proactively reaching out to people with ***** models to notify them if possible issues, which he said no.It appears GMs process is that they know about the issues, dont tell the public unless it is brought up, then they make even more money off the repairs they know have to be made for their c*** parts, and hope they dont get caught in the process. The irony is that after GM said they have fewer ***** models coming in with the issue, a woman with a 2017 ******* came in saying she was out of oil when she filled it up a few weeks ago. The diagnostic said there was an issue, but the employer said, we will have to go in to take a look and see what the possible issue is. I told her exactly what it would be, and the stance GM is taking in the process.GMs handling of this (and all the other issues) shows they care about trying to turn a profit over the safety and satisfaction of their customers.
