We purchased/adopted a male cavapoo puppy from Jones Farm on May 17, 2023. To-date we have met all the requirements of the puppy adoption contract as stated by the breeder (Amy J****). Breeder had puppy micro-chipped prior to us picking up the puppy, which we were made aware of in the adoption contract. Breeder's contract stated that she would release the microchip registration to us upon proof that puppy was neutered, which she did. However, it was NOT stated in the breeder's contract, nor were we ever made aware, that we must leave the breeder listed on our puppy's microchip registration as the secondary contact in the event that our puppy is missing. The breeder also never made us aware until releasing the microchip registration that there is a small annual fee required by the micro-chip company. When we registered as the owners on our puppy's micro-chip, we requested that Jones Farm be removed as the secondary contact so that we can name our own secondary contact but were told by the micro-chip company that Jones Farm must remove their information since they had the puppy micro-chipped. When we asked Jones Farm to remove their information as the secondary contact, the breeder refused stating that she is a "reputable" breeder and that is the practice of reputable breeders. I can accept the small annual fee required by the micro-chip company, though it would have been nice to know in advance, but the puppy is six months, a part of our family, and the breeder should no longer have any input as to who is listed as contacts on our puppy's microchip. My chief complaint being that the adoption contract for our puppy does not state that we are required to leave Jones Farm listed as the secondary contact on our puppy's micro-chip and yet Jones Farm refuses to comply with our request to remove their information from our puppy's microchip.
