On March 14, 2024, after executing a search warrant and investigating the Lucky Duck Internet Cafe, the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office and the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) determined the business to be operating illegally. Law enforcement seized several various video gaming electronics, hard drives, video surveillance equipment, and an undisclosed amount of cash from the business.
In addition, the registered owner of the business, Brandon Tyler Pettitt, has been charged with Felony Operating More Than Five Video Gaming Machines, three counts of Misdemeanor Gambling, Misdemeanor Operating/Possessing Slot Machines, Misdemeanor Manufacture/Sell Slot Machines, and Misdemeanor Possessing Prohibited Electronic Sweepstakes Devices.
