    They replaced the engine in my 2015 **********, and replaced air conditioning parts they broke, or so they claim. Now the air conditioner does not work at all and they will not fix their mistake.

    Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/06/30) */ In mid-April the customer called and asked us what it would cost to replace the engine in his 2015 **********. He said he would provide the engine and before we got it, he would swap out what he could. At that time, he was told that in labor alone it would be $****. He agreed and he was scheduled for May 5th. I believe it was on May 8th when it showed up because he had to get it here on a trailer. When we received the vehicle, it did not run. With only 2 mechanics we worked on it while also working on other vehicles over the next few weeks and finished on May 24th. When replacing the engine, we had to remove the A/C compressor so we could put the engine in. When we removed the compressor, we recovered the freon and after we put the compressor back in, we recharged the system to specs. After putting the vehicle back together we test drove it and everything worked just fine. The customer was called and told the vehicle was done and at that time he asked if he could make payments because we ended up more than the $**** due to unexpected parts and having to recover and recharge the A/C. The owner told him we needed at least the $**** he was quoted before the vehicle could leave the lot. The customer said he would be back in 2 weeks to pay for it and pick up the vehicle. After 2 weeks came and went without hearing anything from the customer, he was called on June 7th and was asked when he would be there to pay his bill and get the car. He said that somethings had come up and he would have to get back to us. On June 13th the customer called back and said that his father-in-law would be in either Thurs or Fri of that week to pay the bill, get the car and the old engine. The vehicle was picked up on June 16th. On Monday June 20th the customer called and said the A/C wasn't working at all. At that time the owner told him that we don't know if it worked before, we replaced the engine or not because the vehicle was not running. He also told him at that time that if he brings the car in, we will fix it for free IF the problem was something we did. If it was not something we did, then the customer would have to pay for it to be fixed. While the vehicle was here, we were informed that before we got the ***** it had been sitting at another shop for at least 6 months. The vehicle still had dealer plates in it from August of 2021.
