I registered to take their "Functional Capacity Evaluation Certification (FCE)" course back on 12/9/2021. https://roymatheson.com/product/functional-capacity-evaluation-certification-fce/ Key Word - Certification Again, the title of the course states "certification". However, upon finishing the last lesson of the course, I find out that certification does not come with completing the class. I have to do more work that can take up to a year to get fully certified. I do not have the ability to do this work as I am not employed with any current office/clinic. My idea with taking this certification course was to get certified so that I could open up my own clinic to complete them. Therefore, I am a standstill. It was my understanding that by finishing the course I would get certified as the title suggests. This is not the case. The price of the course was $1,087.50. Had I known there were additional requirements I would have probably not registered/paid the money I did/spent the time I did to complete it. Again, the title is misleading. This has been a waste of my time and I would simply appreciate a refund for the course due to the false title. I've attempted to reach out to this company twice in the last week with no reply. See emails. Therefore I am submitting a complaint.

    Good afternoon Mr. *****

My name is Roger H*** and I am the owner of Matheson Education & Training Solutions. Although I own the company, Christina H***, my wife, was the actual person who ran the company and has worked with the company for over 30 years. Unfortunately, she passed away in October after a five battle with cancer. Now that things have started to settle down after the abrupt and sudden loss of not only my wife but the poerson who was the main cog in the machine, I am trying to work through as many issues as possible to get us back on course.

I left you message a week or so ago in response to your prior email about the complaint. As I mentioned in that voice mail message we are going to need additional time to properly respond to not only BBB but Mr. *********

I understand this cannot go on forever. I am requesting a deadline to respond of December 15th. I have emailed Mr. ******** directly today and have explained the situation exactly as i have explained it to you here.

You can reach me at RBH***@roymatheson.com. Please address all further communications to me at this email address.

    Thanks!

    Mr. *****

I have thoroughly reviewed all the information related to Mr. ********** application to attend the On Demand FCE course. I do not see where our website has misinformed or misrepresented the content, intent and end result of the program. Attached is the actual webpage from our website that Mr. ******** would have had to go to, review and then decide to apply for this course. The .pdf version of this page shows where it clearly states to get "certified" additional work is required to get said certification. This certification is know as CWCE, "Certified Work Capacity Evaluator" and is referenced throughout the website as a separate designation requiring additional work. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE CERTIFIED WITH A CWCE CERTIFICATION TO PERFORM FCE'S. Once a student has completed all 12 chapters AND the Practicum at the end of the coursework, a Certificate of Completion is sent to the student. The student should have a sufficient level of knowledge that will allow them to start performing FCE's.

If Mr. ******** had carefully reviewed the information about the course and had additional questions about where his business plan to start FCE's without actually being employed by a clinic, he could have easily asked that question prior to applying for the course. There is an info@roymatheson link at the bottom of the FCE course page and this: "Questions about becoming a CWCE? Contact us! " at the bottom of the CWCW page on the website.

We will not be agreeing to a reimbursement of Mr. ********** payment. Furthermore, he has already received a 25% discount for the course as he used a Covid Coupon at the time he signed up. No issues with that at all. H***ver, he has gone through the coursework and as far as I can tell has not submitted his Practicum to get his Certification of Completion. If he had, he could have starting performing FCE's shortly thereafter if he had the proper equipment.

Please let me know if you require any additional information.

    Roger H***

    Complaint: 18314464

I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint because: The title of your class is misleading. If you are offering a Certification Program then you need to give your students the ability/opportunity to earn that certification. Your class merely prepares us to do the evaluations but then it is up to us to go out on our own (which is impossible) to complete the minimum to earn your certification. Again this is misleading.

When you go to this page (see link) there is NOTHING that states there is additional work. This was the page I found directly when looking up your class. If there is additional work to be completed you should put this on EVERY page because I never saw anything about it. I didn't even see any other pages.

    https://roymatheson.com/product/functional-capacity-evaluation-certification-fce/

If you do not want to refund me I will seek legal action. I am already in talks with a law firm about fraud due to the misleading title and failure to provide accurate information on the link above.

    Sincerely,
    ******* ******** PT, DPT
