Magic roofing installed a new roof and two new skylights. The skylights had stickers on them and They were removed before installation. However, the glue from the stickers was not removed from the skylights as a result a very sticky residue remained. In the last few months, the residue has collected pollen dirt, and anything else airborne that would stick to it. As a result of that there have formed shapes that resemble the shapes of the original stickers. Now, when I look at the skylights instead of seeing trees and clouds and sky, I see the shapes of the original stickers. Magic roofing did a terrible sloppy job. They promised there would be no damage to the landscaping surrounding the home. Bushes and shrubbery were damaged. I made the owner aware of the problem. He substituted the full grown lush Landscaping with a couple of puny plants. When I showed him how much damage there was to a pacasandra bed that I had been working on he said they were weeds. Additional damage was done to arrange sensor that works with My sprinkler system. I needed to be removed in order to lay down the new roof, which I understand, but it was left hanging overnight by a wire. When they reinstalled the rain sensor, it wasn’t working. I was given Half of what the rain sensor cost. The issue for me that remains is the shapes on the skylights which should’ve been cleaned prior to permanent installation. After many attempts to contact magic roofing (they were not taking my calls) I finally got an email from the owner Louis Who said it wasn’t under warranty. I explained that this was not a warranty issue, it was an installation issue and the skylights were not properly cleaned before they were installed. He said if I wanted them clean, he would charge me $250. The skylights themselves cost $800. The entire roofing project I believe was close to $12,000, I don’t have the paperwork in front of me can confirm it. Resolution is to clean goop off my skylights so shapes will be gone.Initial Complaint

I contracted with Magic roofing for a roof replacement in October 2023. As part of the contract was a 50 year GAF manufacture's product warranty. The job was completed in 11-2023. I paid them in full for ******* I have called the contractor over a dozen times about this ,and they have said "It's in the mail". I called GAF warranty ***** ,twice, and they said the contractor has never filed for the warranty. Apparently this type of roof job needs to be inspected by GAF before a warranty can be issued. Contractor hasn't contacted GAF for this inspection. (the contractor did a second contracted job , and did give me a warranty for that project. That was a shingle roof, where the first project was a 'Low slope flat roof.).Also on the Second contract 1-2024 for the Shingled roof replacement for *********. the replaced rain gutter is not properly pitched and will not drain away from the house, causing flooding in the basement. I have called the contractor numerus times with them coming out once, but they still have not corrected the problemBusiness response

The warranty has been emailed to the customer; I apologize for the delay there was a confusion with which warranty had been sent prior. As for the gutter issue we already told the homeowner that we could not identify a problem the gutters were put back exactly the same way as before the leak issue is not due to the roof nor gutters.

I am rejecting this response because: The warranty they sent is a complete fake. I contacted the *** company and they never received a request for and never issued a warranty. The product used by the contractor wasn't even a product supplied by them. As for the rain gutter, it still does not drain properly after the second fix. Also the chimney still leaks after the it was supposed to be "completely repaired.". ALSO, after being contacted by the BBB, the contractor has threatened me with a 3000.**** and a lien on my house for work that had already been paid for.

Mailed check deposit for $3,750.00 06/09/2023 for total siding job of $12,500.00, at ******************************************************* *****. Signed contract after Salesman ************************************* confirmed cost to complete siding job. Workers arrived on 07/03/2023 to start job, but left without doing anything. They reported back to owner and ***** that material for job didn't match and they needed special equipment. All material was ordered from Marvic Supply, and paid for prior to signing contract with Magic Roofing and Siding, **** and material order was in fact correct. The salesman came to job site and said another $2,800.00 was needed to do trim, soffits, corners and drip edge on windows. This was not acceptable as they were now asking for more money. Owner was contacted for refund, and he said "we don't do that." For $12.5k, only installing the siding without trim, corners and drip edge on the windows, would have been an incomplete job. The contract was signed for the laborers to install the siding and all material provided by owner from Marvic Supply. To ask for more money to continue after false information was reported from workers who showed up on 07/03/2023, was not the right thing to do. Deposit for $3,750.00 is requested to be refunded. Job was never started. No costs were incurred by Magic Roofing and Siding, **** for any material or labor.Business response

In April of 2023, there was a hail storm In my area next day company Magic comes by asking that i hire them to do my repairs promising me a new roof for what ever the amount was that the insurance was going to pay out. I tried to cancel contract the next day but was convested not to cancel so therefore i decided to go on with ************ words. It took them weeks to come out after repeatedly phone calls made to them they would schedule days and times and never show up week after week calls after calls . Finally completing some work and not all that insurance approved I turned over payment to the company. I have requested that he sent me my warrenty on the jobs that were done and still not received. He was paid for some not completed jobs and he also stated he has reopened claim to collect more funds this has been **** on for months and when I spoke to my agent nothing has been file to reopen claim. I want nothing else to do with this company and as my understanding they were paid for jobs not completed and want nothing else to do with them. And would appreciate if they do not come to My home to do anymore work as they where coming here with out nofity dates and time.Business response

I am under contract for $3500.00 with Magic Roofing since 4/18/2023 to replace a skylight. ***** said he ordered the Skylight on 4/24/23, that he would receive it in **** business days, & would set up a timeline for repair as soon as possible because the repair was URGENT due to the type of leak in my roof. He also came out to tarp my roof on 4/19/23, but the tarp was installed incorrectly and didnt stop the leak. I informed ***** that my roof was still leaking and he refused to come out & install the tarp correctly. My husband contacted ***** by text on 5/8/23 to ask if he received the skylight that was ordered on 4/24 & if he had a timeline to repair the roof. He replied that he didnt have a ************* again repeated how urgent it was to get my roof repaired ASAP. That was the last time we heard from him. I have made several calls and no one has returned them. Magic Roofing is in Breach of Contract at this point. There contract states that they have 8 weeks to order the parts. Eight weeks from the time I signed the contract was 5/24/23. ***** said he ordered my skylight on 4/24/23. If Magic Roofing ordered the skylight either on 4/24 or 5/24 they would have it & they shouldve called me to set up a time for repair by now. I would like to know if they intend to honor their contract or not.Business response

In June 2022 Magic Roofing gave me an estimate that was a lot lower than the final cost because they claimed I needed 60 sheets of plywood at $100/sheet when they came to do the job. The entire roof plywood was replaced but the drip edge, flashing and other metal was not. This was also supposed to be replaced per the estimate. They had placed a ladder against the gutter to hoist up all that plywood and shingles and it damaged part of the fascia, drip edge and other metal as well as the gutter itself. Since it was after dark I thought they would be coming the next day to finish the job and clean up but that never happened. They did come back to pick up the dumpster, though, and Luis A himself made that gutter adjustment in spite of the fact that he said his salesman should not have put it on the estimate because they don’t do that. However, it was on the quote that they would fix this pre-existing problem but instead he only made it worse. The day after the installation the gutter over the garage overflowed because it was bowed in the middle. It had never been that bad before. They promised to use a magnetic device to pick up nails but that never happened. There were over a dozen nails in the driveway alone. And dozens more all over the yard. I was also supposed to get a 50 year warranty that would be transferable to a new owner if I ever moved. That was supposed to be sent 20 business days after the completion of the job but that never happened. I have written emails and called the company many times but never got a response. I even wrote a certified letter earlier this month but still have gotten no response.Business response

Unfortunately, this customer will never charge you for the gutters and the plywood is damaged. We had to replace according to the GAF
specifications for warranty

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:I do not understand the response. Nothing has been resolved. The only thing I got wrong was not knowing what the drip edge was. I did send pictures of the damage that definitely shows what needs to be fixed. They never called me, or wrote to me. And the promised warranty was never sent to me.

I am rejecting this response because: The response is not clear. I mainly want the exposed bare wood covered and the warranty that was promised to come shortly after the job was complete. I had a roof installed on 8/1/22. As per contract, I should have received a copy of my warranty within 20 business days after completion. It is now 4 months later, and all my calls to several phone numbers affiliated with the company including my sales rep and emails to the company are not responded to. I even called GAF, the company that issues the 50 yr warranty after documentation of proper install, and my name and/or house is not registered with the company. Contract **** written 6/30/22, signed 7/1/22 for $12,000 total. $9800 for roof and $2200 for gutters. Company rep I used was *************************. I would just like a copy of my warranty.Customer response

Better Business Bureau: It is a shame that one fast email from the BBB to the roofing company prompted my warranty to be delivered to me via email within 12 hours, and 2 phone calls from the company. Problem solved.
