I cancelled my gym membership between 2021-2022. Months after signing cancellation papers I started getting charged again. I have made several attempts to resolve with Anytime fitness but they never answered any phone calls. I put a stop on my bank account to keep them from charging. A few months ago I was sent to collections for an amount of $167. I have disputed with collections and they have closed my account and are no longer seeking the alleged debt. I am here today at Anytime fitness in Las Vegas, NM and have driven two hours and this will be the second time I’ve made to resolve this issue. Currently they are telling me that they’re doing the best they can but I will still have to pay the amount. I have told them that the debt amount of $167 came about wrongfully. I cancelled the way they told me to by signing papers between the years of 2021-2022 that’s when I made the first two hour trip out to them. For a few months I wasn’t getting charged and then out of nowhere they started charging me again.During that time I made several phone calls to the location and tried resolving with their billing company but they still insisted the debt was accurate. I am here seeking help to clear/wipe this wrongful debt of $167 that has been charged to me after my cancellation. I have not worked out or been to one of their facilities in over 2-3 years and cancelled with them. Please help. I would like to get this amount cleared and need my credit score to go back up since it has been negatively affected.

I cancelled my membership in November 2023 in person as they didn’t allow me to do it over the phone even though I didn’t reside in that city. They continue to draft payments each month. I have left messages and even tried going in person to get this resolved. They have not responded to any messages. From November 2023, they have charged $480 after cancelling. This is a shared experience with many former members. It is predatory and should be illegal.

I joined the gym and agreed to a 18 month membership, set to expire in August 2023. I called the gym July 7 and spoke to a woman, explained that I wanted to cancel my membership, and she said she couldn’t until august, just before the last payment. Sounded fishy to me but I did as directed and called again in August. This time I spoke to a man who insisted I come in for an appointment to cancel the membership which I did. Again I explained that I was not interested in continuing the membership. He said he would “put my request in” and get back to me. I have since gone to the gym in person (he’s never there), emailed and called to follow up. No one has responded to voicemail or email. I am still being charged for membership—I was charged three times in August, the last charge on August 29th.
