Last year I hired this company to pave my driveway. It was a total disaster. First, *********************, the business owner, hit the side of my house several times with his roller, damaging the stucco. As soon as he finished the job he demanded immediate payment, but I was not allowed to drive on it for 5 days. When I could finally drive on it I found the drive was not flat: cars ********* and down when driving on it. I hired an expert to find what was wrong, and he said the site was not graded properly before the asphalt was laid. The only solution is to tear out the entire drive and start over. After several months some holes started opening in the middle of the drive. These showed the asphalt was only a quarter inch thick in the middle. Our contract specified it was supposed to be 3 inches thick. The expert said ***** had only used less than a third the amount of asphalt which he should have used. Then there were places which broke up and turned to gravel after a few rains. The expert said this was because not enough binder had been used. When I pointed out all these problems and asked for my money back, ***** started loudly cursing at me and drove off. When I hired an attorney to file a lawsuit, the attorney did some investigation and found that ********************* already has 6 judgements (lawsuits he has lost) against him which he has not paid, as well as 5 tax liens for unpaid taxes. And these don't count lawsuits currently in progress against him. He is also under investigation by the ************************* He claims to be insured and bonded but I could find no evidence this is true. If he does, in fact, have an insurance and bonding company I would be glad if he would give me their name because I would like to have a talk with them. I have photographs and paperwork to back up everything I have said, including a written statement from the asphalt expert, as well as the written report listing the unpaid judgements and tax liens.
