Performance Motorsports NEVER gave me an estimate for what I wanted done for my car. I asked him how much the job would be, he told me he would run a diagnostic and he will give me a written estimate. I showed up to check on what needs to be done and the bill was handed to me. The bill was 9k, for the first bill, he wanted me to pay, some of it. I never agreed to this price. I even told the owner ***** that this isnt a 9k job. And he gave me a sad excuses for the work he did. Im very familiar with what auto shops charge for work. I have had multiple classic cars that I restore and sell. I only paid it because he would have kept my car by putting a lien on it. And at this point nothing was finished. The car was not even running. I asked him how close to being done and he tells me its a real close. When I brought the car, it had everything new in it. The motor and all accessories, transmission, and digital dash were already installed. All I needed was for him to finish connecting these systems so it runs. He completed the car and the bill was at 14k. I never in my life would agree to paying this. He never gave me an estimate. I had no choice but to pay or else I wouldnt be able to get my car. This car is a Restomod 1968 Chevelle that Ive been working on for a 2 years. It is an investment to me because I plan to sell it. So im not able to wait while he has my car hostage. Please help me and bring this business to justice. I know this isnt the first time Performance Motorsports has done something like this. The bad reviews are all over ******. Also the attorney I spoke to is familiar with this business. I know in the state of Nevada a auto shop is required by law to give a written estimate which was never given to me. This is 100% unethical and illegal to scam people like this. I have all the receipts and the first initial document I signed when I left the vehicle. It states what I wanted done to the vehicle.Business response

Mr ***** has a hard time keeping his story straight. He first told me that he bought the car the way it was and his goal was to fix it and make a profit from the sale. When I saw the car and its horrible condition I told him that that was not going to be possible. At that time we made an extensive list of repairs that were needed, we informed him of our Shop rate $150 per hour and that the work he wanted was custom work . His car needed the wiring redone. Fuel system plumbed, Brake lines fabricated and install. Ac system wired and filled. Custom trans cooler lines made, Transmission linkage made and installed, power steering lines remade and installed, wire in all the power windowsand adjust, There arent any estimates given on "custom" work. He agreed and asked us to proceed. As we were working on the car Mr ***** would stop in 2-3 times per week and check progress at wich time we would show him the work we had done and present him with the bill. I asked for a payment from him once the bill had gotten up to $4000. He came in a week later with $2000 and infomed me that he would go that evening and get the balance from his girlfriend. He didn't show up for the next two weeks so I called him again and said he needed to come pay the balance and that he could stop work on his car so that he had time to catch up on his finances. He told me he liked our work and diid not want to take it anywhere else. I did feel bad for the guy and performed many tasks on the car with out charging him. He pulled up here one day to see his car and the one he was driving was leaking coolant. I brought it to his attention and repaired while he waited at no charge. He didn't even say thank you. After we re did all of the repairs on the car that the other "shop" perormed and repaired all of the stripped out bolt holes and got the car running we found out that the transmission he had in the car wasn't any good. He asked for my help again with it and beyond my better judgement I did indeed help him out. The company that he purchased the trans from would not warranty it or help with the cost in any way. The car sat here for 3 more weeks and I kept calling Mr ***** and he would not answer. I let him pay a guy to rebuild it on the weekend and reinstall it in his car. I let them use my shop for this at no charge . The car was here for three months getiing work done. When the rebuilt transmission was finished and in the car I call Mr. ***** and told him that it was in but I can not test drive the car with the rotten tires on it, No registration and no insurance, I made notes of this on his attached invoice and he signed it. Every day and hour that was spent on the car is logged and accounted for on his invoice. I never asked him for money up front. I only asked for him to make payments towards his bill. I never said that I would Lien sale his car. I put him in front of other customers to try help him out and I truly regret it. My goal is to have 100 percent customer satisfaction . The day he finally came to pick up the car I had one of my staff repair his tail lights and head lights at no charge so he could drive home, even though I begged him to tow it . I have already contacted My attorney on this matter.Initial Complaint

**************** approached me about restoring his car in January of 2021. I told him we are booked out for the next 12 months and we should start gathering parts so that when an open becomes available we can hit the ground running. He expressed the level of build he was after and I told him that he should really start saving money because what he wants is NOT cheap. He said at that time that he understood and that he was stashing away money. I requested money from him at that time to start purchasing some of the necessary parts. I asked him to send a check or CC and I was told that he would rather send cash. He sent the first payment with a family member for $10000 and it was supposed to be $20000 but I went ahead and kept on purchasing parts because we knew each other. Every time I would ask for money he would act like he misunderstood what we agreed on and that he would make it right later. You can see this is some of the text messages that I attached. When **************** finally arrived with the car after not showing up for the first two appointments I informed him that the car was in far worse shape then he had told me. I said that we need to return the parts that I ordered and not try and restore this car. the **** Cadillac had been hit in the front and rear, both quarter panel were dented and the roof was completely rusted out. I told him I could find a car in much better shape for cheap and have a much better start that would save him a ton of money. He then told me that this was his grandfathers car and that he knew it was going to be expensive but it did not matter. I begged him to reconsider but he insisted on proceeding. He asked for new Paint, new interior, all new custom air ride suspension, custom frame work, custom firewall, all new wiring and power windows, new late model engine and transmission complete with EFI, custom wheels and tires, new weather-stripping, new chrome, new rear end , new disc brakes, He wants a brand new car but does not want to pay for it. We always require that our customers pay for the parts up front and they can pay for the labor as we go. I would send daily progress pictures to him and he would always tell me how much he loved our work. When it came time to pay he would ghost me. He wont answer his phone or text messages. Some how every time it I sent him a bill he would be out of town in an area with out cell service. When I finally got ahold of him on the first bill we agreed that in order for us to proceed he would need to send a check for $15000. $11000 for what was owed to use and $4000 for parts. When the check came it was for $5000. I was very mad about this because it put my business in a bind. I asked him to wire the balance or give me CC. He said that was impossible, he can't use banks or credit cards because the way he makes money is illegal. If he payed me like that he could go to jail. He then finally came to my shop short on cash again but assured me he would have more soon. He said He love the way the car was coming along and asked me to keep moving forward with it. Beyond my better judgment I did just that. I let the bill get to just over $11000 and hit him up for payment. Again he would not answer or respond so I told him that we can no longer work on his car and that even though he had a balance with me that he needed to come and pick up his car. I DO NOT have to release any car that has a balance. I did this to try and salvage any kind of friendship we may have had but that has blown up in my face! I spent the next week working on his car free of charge because I found some thing that was not up to my standards and wanted to rectify it before the car left. No charge for parts or labor. Again I tried to call him and talk to him but no response. He finally texted me and said he was coming but didn't show up. He made another appointment through text and didn't show. He finally showed up and I stopped all my guys from working on their projects to gather up all of his parts and help him load the car, This was a two hour process that we did not charge for. When we were done loading the car I asked him for the money owed and he said he was waiting to get paid from other people. I asked him about his engine and he said he didn't have room for it and that I should scrap it. I then told him that if he couldn't pay me the over $12000 that is owed by the end of the week, I would have to sell the parts he left behind to recoup my money. I asked him to go ever the receipts with me and He refused. He then stormed out of my place of business and left. I have not heard anything from him since that day. Every hour that was spent on his car is documented on the attached work order. This is and unfortunate chain of events that I wish I never got involved in. We work hard for our money and should not have to argue with people to get paid. I have a stellar reputation with all of my customers and plan to keep it that way. We are always busy because of our customer referrals and plan to stay that way. I is insane to think that someone wants a refund when they still owe you money. I can't make him understand that what he wants is NOT cheap. He wants perfection but does not want to pay for it. Thank You for your time **********; ************Customer response

I have already secured an attorney. I have already been in contact with professional shops willing to be contacted about the work that has been claimed to be completed. This guy is a conman and has done the to many other customers I am finding out. I have spent $50k for this man to destroy my family inheritance/car. Very sad.
