I contracted with Riteway Marine Solutions on April 3, 2024 to purchase a used 2010 Chapparal Sunesta boat and provided a $20,000 deposit at point of sale. I have dealt exclusively with the owner, ******************* is a list of items that was to be provided by Riteway as part of the contract: Installation of 6 underwater lights, replacement of seat cushions (updated with red piping), touch-up of fiberglass/paint where needed, naming the boat and location, providing/installing GPS, providing/installing a new Mercury 350 mpi Bravo III engine, training of how to operate the boat, lines, lifejackets, and sea testing. The boat was to be fully prepared by June 6, 2024, as written on top of my contract. I visited the location prior to the agreed upon pick-up date and saw that no work had been done. The owner asked for an additional deposit in May, saying, "You know I have a lot of work that I need to do to that boat, so I'm going to need an additional deposit." Without flinching, and without this being part of the contract as originally written, I gave him another $10,000 by check on May 17, 2024. In addition to the $30,000 given to Riteway, in April, after I contracted with Riteway, I purchased a boat slip for the season at $6,822.68 and paid for the NY Boating Safety course for myself and 3 others. The boat is still not ready and the boating season is practically over. I've gotten nothing but jerked around by the business owner, who lies to your face as he shakes your hand with a smile. "It will be ready next week," has been told to me by the owner, no less than a dozen times over the course of the Summer. I would like either A) the boat to be completed and want to be credited in the amount of $3,411.34 (half of the docking fees), or B) the uncompleted boat given to me with the title and registration at no additional cost. My complaint seems to be consistent with prior complaints made to your office within the last 2 years and that is something you should be aware of.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Unfortunately, there is no appointment to resolve the matter.  The owner has not answered or returned my calls.   We had an appointment 2 weeks ago and the owner didn't show up.  The entire boating season is practically over now and I still am getting jerked around without finality.

In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

    Sincerely,

There is nothing honorable about ****. Pure and simple. He sold my boat, then lied about selling it. Then when I caught him he offered me very little. Regardless, I accepted his offer. Then he proceeded to give me excuses I haven't heard since I was a kid. Check is in the mail, bank wire didn't go through. Check was returned by the postal service. It went on and on... When I finally did receive the check it bounced. I had to hire a lawyer to sue him. He signed an agreement with his and my attorney to spread the payments out for five months. He has now defaulted on that agreement. Part of our agreement was that I would remove my negative but truthful review, which I did. So now I'm putting it back. Do not do business with this guy.

Riteway Marine is currently in the process of working on a new agreement with all parties involved to satisfy all owed monies as quickly as possible. Riteway will submit an updated response as soon as a new agreement is in place.

I put down a large deposit on a boat and live across the country. I flew out to check out the boat and the condition was not what I expected. We agreed this was not an issue. After months of requesting my deposit back I received two checks, one I was asked to hold for about a week. Both checks came back non sufficient funds and upon re-depositing, one cleared and the other one came back NSF again. I have been attempting to get the other half of my deposit for nearly a year. **** has made several promises, thanked me for my patience, and I have yet to receive the other half of my deposit. (50% of 18,500) it would be nice to get restitution on bank fees and if the roles were reversed, some sort of added compensation for allowing him to use my money almost 1 year.

3 years ago I purchased a boat from **** and he said whenever I was going to upgrade you its no problem come back trade for trade in. 2 and a 1/2 years later that is what I did ..he gave me a price for cash with my trade in. When we agreed on that and I went to give him the money there was an issue because he said that's not what he said but it is and then we agreed on something else at that point I decided to move down South and he promised me he would deliver the boat to me on a certain day. That date came and went ..for a month I got excuse after excuse so I had to fly to ********, buy a trailer, and pay to have the boat transferred down to **************. When I got the boat down to ************** I put the boat in the water at the ****** and 2 days later I get a phone call the boat is taking on water ...it has a boot leak. Now it was middle of June and I was promised a trade for another boat for for less money and that didn't happen. There was story after story for that also. Then he agrees to come pick the boat up and bring it back to to ************** within the same week... 3weeks later he finally picked the boat up. The boat has been in ******** For over 2 weeks now maybe 3 and now hes saying that the boat has been on its way down here for 4 days telling me it'll be there tomorrow...it'll be there tomorrow.. it'll be there tomorrow.. it'll be there tomorrow. Well I'm still waiting for tomorrow because every day is a new story I've tried to get my money back and that doesn't happen. I'm now down a boat that I purchased, a traded in boat, travel expenses, ****** expenses, boat insurance, SeaTow expense, trailer expense, and the expense to trail it down south.
