Went in for my daughter. They advised I had a deductible with my plan which I do only for surgeries. I pulled my plan benefits up plus the EOB from my last visit. I was told this is useless and I would be charged my deductible or denied care for my child. I was willing to pay what I owe which was my copay and only that. Not to mention the girl at the front desk was rude and talked to me like I had no idea what insurance was as I advised I had worked in health insurance and I know what I am talking about. But I was denied care for my child. I also was informed that I had a balance in collections that is not even a month old. I was never advised of this balance by mail or phone call - I’m assuming because there is no way it exists since my EOB advised that my only responsibility was my copay and they paid the rest. Stay clear and far from all WNY Immediate Care locations. They are just an over charging, money hungry facility who will reject care if you can out smart them.

I took my husband to immediate care right after he had an accident on his bike. There was no triage and we had to wait while The receptionist slowly dealt Fish with another woman. After the patient before us was finished, I went to the receptionist and tried to hand him our cards and tell him what was going on. He refused to let us see a doctor and told me that I was getting out of control because I was insisting on talking to a manager. I was advocating for my husband, and I was as upset as one would rationally be knowing that their husband had just been in an accident. I’m not sure why the receptionist was allowed to deny care. We went to a different urgent care and they treat us wonderfully.

I believe my HIPPA rights were violated in many ways during one visit to the immediate care in Amherst. Instead of going through an official medical document review with my assigned Medical Review Officer in person at the appointment that he set for me to attend- he didn’t show up and did the review over the phone. He didn’t even see the documents he just said they weren’t what he asked for and I was made to explain myself over the phone in the waiting room where I had to disclose personal health information. I called both the Amherst and Buffalo locations to report the issue and have been redirected and ultimately left with no information on whether this is protocol or in fact a violation of my HIPPA rights.

WNY Immediate Care advertises as an alternative to the Emergency Room, and website says they treat lacerations and broken bones. Went there with my son to get treatment after a bicycle accident (suspected he needed stitches for deep cut on hand). They looked at it, then told us they could not provide adequate treatment there and to go to the ER, which was the obvious next step that we already knew, which we did. Then they sent a bill for $405! I called to complain that this was an unreasonable charge for not receiving any medical care at all, not even an x-ray (turns out his wrist was broken, too--missed that diagnosis altogether)! Sent them a letter to that effect, too. It's no problem if you don't have the skills or tools to provide the service, but then don't charge money as if you did anything useful! The resonse was that they sent debt collectors after me. What a hassle on top of wasting time at their clinic during an acute need for medical care. Will definitely never go there again!
