  I have been bounced around by hospitals and doctors for a serious medical issue. I finally received a medical referral to the doctor of my choice, Dr Stephen B****. Dr B**** was the original doctor that performed my procedure years ago and I have been in discomfort for years. When I excitedly called his office to see how the process would work (if they have received my referral yet, schedule an appointment), the receptionist would not answer my questions directly. She kept calling me hun, and finally told me not to ever call back. Dr B**** was the original doctor who performed my procedure and this receptionist told me I am a new patient and would have to wait to March to schedule any type of appointment without asking me the seriousness of my medical condition.

  In response to the complaint filed by Ms. ******** we first would like to say that we understand her frustration with being sent to multiple Dr.'s and multiple hospitals without getting any answers for her issues.  Unfortunately, Ms. ******** has not been seen by Dr. B**** since 2019 and that was when he was with a different practice.  She has never been seen by this practice and none of her records are here in this practice.  A referral was necessary for her records to be transferred.  We did not have that referral.  Since she has been cared for by other Dr.'s in the last 4 years since she has seen Dr. B****, she is considered a new patient.  We are currently scheduling new patients in April.  Ms. ******** was given an appointment in March, which was sooner than most new patients were offered.  In addition, when Ms. ******** called, she did not like being told that we did not have her records and that she is considered a new patient, she hung up on our front staff person.  The front staff person called her back upon receipt of her referral (which was within 24-48 hours), the referral was reviewed with Dr. B**** and was not deemed urgent, subsequently an appointment was made for March as a cancellation had opened a spot.  The patient did not seem upset by getting an appointment in March and the patient did not express that she had any issues with being seen in March.  We try our best to accommodate all our current patients' needs and we are accepting new patients, however, if a new patient is having what they deem to be a serious medical condition they should not wait to be seen, they should go to the ER or seek urgent medical care by their current physician.  Ms. ******** is currently scheduled to be seen by our office in March, if she no longer wishes to be seen she may call and cancel.
