On October 13th 2023, I put down a ******* dollar deposit and financed a 2011 gmc sierra ****** 1500 for over ********* dollars, with interest nearly ********* at car father ***. The establishment claims to sell quality used vehicles. On February 1st 2024 only 3.5 months after purchase, the engine seized without warning. No engine light, and no check oil indicator. The engine had burned off all the oil. There were no oil leaks, as I checked often and would have clearly noticed oil spills on my driveway and customer driveways. I was surprised, because the reason I decided to buy at a used car dealership instead of a private seller was literally in avoidance of such a problem which now exists. If I wanted a seized engine or car problems I would have purchased a ******** or ******* dollar vehicle off of ********** or fb marketplace . It just isnt right. ********************* of car fathers *** aft we first putting the blame on me for not putting oil in the vehicle I just purchased 3.5 months ago for ********* + with a monthly payment, accepted responsibility by agreeing to install another used engine. After nearly 1.5 months with almost 2 weeks of avoiding my texts and calls, finally says that if I gave him ******* dollars, he could get a quality engine and install it. I said ok and gave him ******* with ****** due upon completion. Forward to April 18th ( 3.75 months without any vehicle) I am finally called to pick up my truck. Upon leaving with the gmc I discover a 4 lag bolt stuck directly through my rear passenger tire. But before I can even go around the block the engine once again seized! Minutes after driving away! I returned and once again Im told that another engine must be found. After another 3 to 4 weeks on may 24th Im asked to return to get my vehicle. This time Im told that theyve put in an engine with only ****** miles and that Im good to go. That evening, the engine began to once again knock, and eventually seize.

To Whom It May *********************** at Carfather Inc have tried to help as much as possible when we were not obligated to do so. Attached are text messaged between us and ******** on 2/2/24 stating that he had never checked the oil once on a *******-mile vehicle. When I had gone to the location of vehicle to check the oil the oil was clean as if it just had an oil change. When I had asked ******** about this he said yes, a friend had added oil after I had asked him to check which proves he knew that was the problem. also attached in the owner's manual from a 2011 GMC Sierra ****** which is the vehicle he had bought from us. In the manual it states that oil should be checked at every fuel fill and must be changed every 3000 miles which on a yearly average is every three months, and that is for a new vehicle not one that has ******* miles already. Even with knowing this, we still did not want to strand the customer, so we agreed to try and get him a used motor for his vehicle and agreeing to pay half. After multiple motors and labor, we had paid for multiple times ******** asked for vehicle back which and also gave him his half of the money back. At this point we feel we have done everything possible when ******** purchased the vehicle he understood and signed paperwork stating that there was no dealer warranty implied. Clearly this problem was not caused by us but by his lack of automotive knowledge and never checking his oil but we still tried to do right by our customers.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because,

Car fathers attempt to rectify the situation was minimal at most. I went months without a vehicle due to their negligence. Car Fathers boasts that it sells quality used vehicles as stated on their website, which was the reason I visited the establishment (see attached) and that would prove false in only 3.5 months of regular daily driving.

I was never told that this vehicle had any problems at all. As a matter of fact upon purchasing it I was told by ***** and his associate how great it was. If I wanted to ****** with my hard-earned money I would have purchased from a private seller and NOT a dealer who has a business solely based on selling to the public.

If the reason for the engine seizing was my fault, then what of the other three engines car fathers installed into the vehicle that also seized? 4 out of 4 engines all seized. The reason is clear....they were all provided by Car Fathers. They were junk engines, the cheapest motors you can find. absolute trash.

Even his own mechanic said the engines ***** was giving him to put in the truck were NO GOOD.

The fact is I purchased a truck that I was told was in great condition to find out it burned oil at an exorbitant rate with a engine and oil warning light that never functioned to alert its driver.
