My family and I went to eat at George’s Restaurant, on August 24, 2024 around 7:30pm. While at dinner, a hanging decoration, a large piece of stained glass, fell off of its hinges and directly onto my nieces head. The owner came by and MADE A JOKE, did not apologize or ask if anyone was okay medically. Later, we asked for the stained glass decoration so we can take a picture to document this accident. The owner said he couldn’t find it. The owner went out to the dumpster with my nieces husband in an attempt to locate the decoration, proceeded to call my nieces husband an ******* and tell him to look for it himself in the dumpster. The owner did NOTHING to make this right. He did not comp any items from our bill, offer an apology or a way for my family to feel at ease. This was a large, heavy decoration that was held up by basic tape. The attached images reflect the tape that was supporting this stained glass. My niece is extremely injured and it could’ve been even worse. There were small children at the table as well.

BBB spoke with the owner who said that the item fell near the table but that there were no injuries to anyone.

    Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Your response is dishonest, and an attempt to avoid accountability. There were multiple witnesses to this event- including YOU asking my niece if she was OK. Why would you first acknowledge that she was hit in the head when you came over to the table, and now, state in your response that the item only fell near her? Restaurant staff were asking if she needed an ambulance, because they SAW that it hit her. Your response is an outright lie. Your staff members acknowledged that it hit her, including our waitress, Patti. We also have your conversation with her husband recorded, in case you try to make further denials. I suggest you take ownership of this accident by compensating my family the amount listed on each receipt, or further action will be taken.

    Regards,

    ******* ******
