I hired Lou Adams from Adam's Family Landscaping to dispose of a dug out tree stump in early July. He did the job and I paid him. Later that month, I asked if he could install a handrail for my outside steps. Lou gave me a price and said he needed money for materials. He told me that his son Brandon would come by to pick up the money. On July 9, 2024, I paid a $500 deposit to Brandon Adams for materials so he or his dad Lou could build a handrail for my outside steps. He took the money, and signed a receipt. Brandon or Lou never came to complete the job and will not refund my $500 deposit. I do get many excuses of why he can't come over to do the work, such as health issues and weather. I also get many promises of when he will arrive to refund the money. I could supply copies of the receipt to any investigative organization that I have contacted if required.

On 7/20/2024 at approx 9:30am, Brandon Adams, who said he is the owner of Adams Family Lawncare & Landscaping LLC, arrived at my house to give me an estimate for doing yardwork/landscaping after I had found him on the ******** App. At that time, he handed me a business card containing the name of his company, phone number, business hours & email address. I showed him everything I'd like to have done and the priority - what I wanted done this season & that which I'd like done next year. As he was leaving, he told me that he's now in the process of getting 50% down payments from his clients who want snow removal services done over the winter. I told him I'd think about that and let him know. He left my house and at 10:34am, he began what would be an hours-long email barrage asking me for money, for both the landscaping & the snow removal. Because he was so insistent on getting money from me for the snow removal, which he told me would cost me $800 total, I paid him $200. The only way I could pay him he said was via *******, which was not an app I use, but at 11:25am, I paid him $200 for snow removal services via *******. He then began pushing me to get the landscaping work done, because he needed money to help his wife's mother who is currently on chemotherapy. I told him I didn't have a specific date but by mid-August, since I was going on vacation in early August. I told him that I'd firm things up once he sent me a proposal in writing. He finally sent the proposal at 2:45pm via text for $880. I did not respond as I wanted to think it over. The whole experience felt like a shakedown. While I was on vacation on/about 8/10/24, someone named Lou stopped by my house, left his number, & spoke to my petsitter. He said he'd like to start on the landscaping as soon as possible & that it would be him who did it since Brandon 'had to go away for a while.' As of 9/18/24, I've been calling both Brandon & Lou and I get the phone carrier message that the phone is not in service.

On 5/25/2024 Brandon Adams from the business mentioned came to assess a job reseeding my backyard. We agreed to go ahead with the project. Mr. Adams asked for a cash payment of $325 to obtain a rototiller and other supplies. Because he was going to start the job the next day, I gave him the money. Subsequently, he cancelled three times and finally stated that he couldn't do the job and said he would refund the money. After several weeks and many calls/texts, he finally sent me $100 by CashApp and then another $100 a few weeks later. When I pressed him for the balance of $125, he threatened me and said I should take him to court. This was after he "promised" many times to refund the remainder. I have since found out that there are many others who have been scammed by this business. I believe there will be others filing with your organization to bring this scamming to light. I would like the BBB to take whatever action you are able to against this business and if possible "negotiate" the rest of the refund for me. They do not communicate. They need to be listed as scammers. I believe the father, ***** ******* (###-###-####) is trying to help people resolve their issues with Brandon, but his number is no longer in service. He told me he would pay the balance, but that was three weeks ago, but he is non-communicative. I have been told that the family has moved to *********** *********** *********** There is a group on ******** who have given many details of the scamming and dishonesty of Brandon, e.g. always asking for money and not doing the work, demanding cash, always up front and not taking checks, and not answering phone calls or texts. One person in the group is "out" $1500 because she paid up front for lawn service and contracted for snow removal for the upcoming winter. This business is corrupt. Please help me with my issue. I am a retired 80 year old woman on a fixed income. They see to target vulnerable elderly people. Thank you.
